Anyone else tried these?

I brought some in Tesco the other day and I wasn't keen.

I toasted them but I thought I wouldn't put butter on them as it might taste weird and plus they had chocolate chips in them so I thought that would stop them being dry but they just tasted awful and dry. I was considering putting Nutella on them but I thought that would be sickly.

It's a bad idea, hot cross buns are supposed to be a kind of ancient Christian treat, they didn't have chocolate back in those days.

Do they have chocolate chips instead of horrible raisins, currants, sultanas etc?

I might have to try some of them if that's the case.

I like the chocolate and fudge ones that m&s do. Nothing beats the real deal but these ones are a nice alternative.

There's your first mistake.

Chocolate + melted butter = omnomnomnom.

I tried chocolate buns a few years back when they first came out.. asda has stopped doing them now.. but i found them a little tastless, and so are the tesco ones. But even the normal ones, from all supermarkets inc coop are IMO dry and bland..in fact taste stale...
And are smaller lol..

I tried a Hot Cross Bun bacon butty in Sainsburys cafe this week - their idea, not mine.
The waitress brought it and said "I didn't bring any sauce as I thought that would make it even more weird".
It was "interesting".

They sound absolutely disgusting and totally wrong. Hot cross buns should be spicy with a real cinnamon kick.
