EE: Gavin Sullivan
The BBC cast listings have him listed for 15/16 and 18/19 February as is Kathy, Sharon is only listed for the 19th so I presume his visit is Kathy related this time.
As he has showed no interest whatsoever in Kathy since he revealed he was Sharon's biological father (And I emphasise that because as far as I'm concerned Den was and always will be her dad), so I wonder what's coming up? Any ideas folks? |

They should just drop the character, there is something that just doesn't seem to work about the whole story line of him being Sharon's real dad that coupled with the fact Paul Nicholas just doesn't seem to work in that kind of character.

I'm looking forward to that, there is still so much to find out about him and Kathy, and what really went on all those years in South Africa.

Yes I would agree, but to be fair to DTC (This time) we all knew that Paul Nicholas had a tight schedule last year and he was unlikely to be around as much as DTC may have initially preferred but they worked round it, and hopefully there will be a bit of a longer stint this time, although I still fully expect him to be the Christmas 2016 death having caused havoc in between times

Just DTC blowing his own trumpet, hyping it up just to disappoint, hope I'm wrong but I doubt it.

Do you ever actually read about his press conferences in full? He's not perfect and that's not my point here, but often things are taken out of context. When it was announced that Paul was taking on the role it was also announced how much theatre work and work with his own production company he would have to do before giving the role his proper attention, and obviously DTC accepted that and decided to work round it. I suspect he will be pretty monstrous this year because I don't think DTC likes being wrong

Paul Nicholas just does not suit the role of Gavin as some sort of evil villain, I just see it turning into some sort of camp panto type caricature, I am not disputing his acting credentials just not right for this part, and as I said something about Gavin just happening to be Sharon's real dad doesn't sit right.

I don't think it has worked up until now, however, he has only done 17 episodes, and many of those were a few minutes here or there, nicking the duff-duffs so I reserve judgement until it has played out a little more. I wonder if we will ever discover what really happened between him and Philth?

Watch out Kathy
. Yeah I think Gavin will only have scenes with Kathy next week but Sharon is credited next Thursday and Friday so it's possible he might see her. Can't wait for Gavin's scenes next week.

A gangly sparkler wielding pensioner that is about as threatening as a decorative cushion.
Thanks. |

The grey hair and tango complexion just make him look like a clown all he needs is a red nose and clown shoes.

Really looking forward to seeing what transpires between Kathy and Gavin next week!
Gavin seems to be more menacing than threatening but he has intrigued me, and it will good to see more of Kathy.

About time. We don't know much about Gavin and Kathy. Kathy has been so underused but It's a relief that Denise, Shirley and a few more characters are taking a backseat next week..
Hoping we get some proper Kathy and Sharon scenes. They haven't really spoken to each other about them being stepmother/stepdaughter. Wasted opportunity. |

^ I don't think Denise or Shirley or many other characters have been overused at all this year, it has been an ensemble mostly, imo. Aside from the Stacey/Kush/Shabnam/Martin drama which has dominated quite heavily.
I'm looking forward to seeing what is coming up for Kathy, Denise and Shirley. I really hope for a friendship between the trio too. I'm also glad to see that Kathy is back in the forefront of the drama now that she has been re-established in the square. It will definitely be interesting to find out more about the Kathy and Gavin dynamic.

I didn't know about Paul Nicholas' theatre work, makes Gavin's absence understandable
I agree, he isn't scary but I think he's meant to be more manipulative than anything There's been no hint how the cottage was with Sharon (which sounds slightly wrong) Pretty sure he'll be killed at some point and buried in the allotments by Kathy & Sharon with Jane giving tips, that could be the Beale's new business
