EASTENDERS & OTHER SOAPS: Does This Ever Happen In Real Life?
I've seen this scene played out again and again in soaps over the years.
When a usually intelligent soap character - thinking themselves helpful and considerate - decides to be completely insensitive and inhumane, completely destroying the treasured memories of a loved one, then delivering the line: "You need to move on..." We saw this tonight with Kush and Bonnie Langford in Enders, and I've seen this drivel repeatedly played out throughout my years of soap watching. (Madge and Helen even decided to chuck out all of Daphne's clothes, literally the episode after she'd died in Neighbours back in the day, really upsetting Des.) Is it just me who finds it ludicrous or does this kind of thing really happen? Carmel was lucky Kush didn't send her flying out the window, his wife only left him last Friday. What drugs is she on?? |

It's so annoying. Give them time to grieve in their own way. She'll be insisting he joins a dating site next.

It angered me too, Steve. I'm a pacifist and abhor violence in all of its ugly forms, but I could happily have stood by and watched Kush chin Carmel right there for that.
