Balut Challenge taken by Americans
Has anyone here heard about the infamous Balut? For those who haven't yet, it's a fertilized duck egg with the duck embryo inside.
I am sharing this video to everyone curious enough to see how a foreigner in the Philippines would do if one was challenge to eat the egg, placenta, duck chick and all. Click here to watch the video. |

I'd certainly be interested to try one. They might be really tasty. I really hate people being dismissive of other countries cuisines and delicacies without even trying it, who are we to say that our culture is correct and someone else's is wrong? If I went to a country where this was a local delicacy I'd give it a try, the same goes for things such as cat and dog, it's all meat and food at the end of the day, as long as it's been prepared correctly and isn't going to harm me I'm happy to try.

They are a staple on The Amazing Race. Almost every time TAR visits the Philippines there's a balut challenge.
