Anyone know if you have BT Infinity do you have to take your line rental from BT?

Yes I would of thought so as you'd be using a BT Line.

Yes you do. Other providers will sell you fibre broadband and let you have line with someone else (usually charging a fiver or more extra for the privilege) but BT definitely does not allow it.

Thanks. That's what I thought. I'm happy with BT Infinity but the line rental is getting ridiculously expensive. I pay a year up front and it's increased from £169.90 to £194.28.

You can have BT infinity and line rental with some other suppliers

BT charge more for the infinity if you do not take line rental.

If you speak to BT retentions they should be able to cut the cost of your Infinity package in return for a new 12 month contract.

Number to call is 0800 800 030

That is incorrect.

BT Infinity is available as a standalone product when you have line rental with another provider.

The cost is higher and BT do not advertise it but it is available.

If you're prepared to talk to one of their operatives, I've always found BT to be very helpful (I've been with them since 1972).

I've just renegotiated my next 12 month contract as follows:

Line Rental: £17.99
Unlimited Anytime Calls: £7.95
BT Broadband Infinity 2 and Calls: £30.00
Special offer discount (loyalty?): - £7.15
Caller Display for duration of contract: foc

Total: £48.79 per month, equates to £146.37 +vat per quarter.

I have a DD set up whereby they tell me what my quarterly bill is and inform me when they'll be taking that amount from my bank account. There's a few days leeway to challenge anything I'm not happy with.

My Broadband Infinity speed is never less than 71 Mbps (I've just this minute checked it with Ookla ( http://www.speedtest.net/ ) and it's currently running at 72.43 Mbps, in spite of this time of the evening being a busy one for internet use).

Give BT a call and see what they say!
