Alex Bain aka Simon Barlow
Can someone send him (Alex Bain) to acting classes please. Amy (Elle Mulvaney) is a good little actor and although Faye (Ellie Leach) started off like she was in a nativity play, she has come on well. Alex Bain though is painful to watch and cannot act in any way. It is almost like someone if off camera mouthing the words "look angry ... look sad ...".
I concede that for a child actor to stand out takes a lot of work, but please please please realise Alex Bain is the worst actor on Corrie since Sarah Harding and of course, the worst of all time, Julia Hayworth (aka squeaky Ashley Peacocks, wife Claire) |

I agree, he plays Simon very well. I want to beat the crap out Simon every time he starts messing with Leanne. Alex Bain is very believable as an angry out of control teen, the boy deserves an award IMHO.

Wow! To me, his 'angry' is so contrived. It is the 'angry', I would expect a normal 12 year old to do if told to look angry. It is not as if they give him any real acting to do apart from looking angry. Acting is supposed to be seemless and believable. Some of the child actors in the USA look like they are experienced actors. This kid belongs in a school nativity play. We all have opinions, which is great. I just expect a little more.

Personally, I think he's a very good young actor but I just think it's a shame that the storyline has focused so much on Leanne and not Simon. It wouldn't excuse his actions but the story over all would have worked better if more focus was placed on Simon's perspective.
Even a small scene with him confiding in his teacher about how angry he feels all the time would have been something - or even a moment when he gets jealous of a mate at school who seems to have a perfect family and a perfect life. Basically anything that would show Simon struggling after everything he's been through. All that seems to happen is Leanne does something he doesn't like, Simon lashes out and then she's forced to make a difficult decision. They drop the story for months and then pick it back up again and there's never any resolution to it. |

I think Alex Bain was better when he was younger. I can't take angry Simon seriously.

I think he's awful wasn't so bad when he was younger, needs recast if he's staying although I'd rather he left for a few years.

I think he has been really good. Actually genuinely believe he is very angry and dangerous, unlike Bobby in EE who was clearly turned "evil" for a surprise culprit.

Another plus for the lad from me!! He has got many people on here genuinely hating him for the way he's behaving which means he's doing his job well!
Those eyes look genuinely menacing to me, which when you think how cute he could look with them when he first arrived is good acting!! If I'm honest I find Amy's acting a lot more contrived!! |

I absolutely hate Si's angry face - it makes my hackles rise, but I've worked with angry children and they do pull ott faces like that (they clench their fists and snort too ) and they really annoy me as well so I'd say Alex Bain is doing a pretty good job.

I like Amy, the kid who needs to go is Hope, that girl barely said two words during the whole caner story, even the little girl who plays Ruby does more and she is like 3 years old.
![]() I like Amy - she's one of my favourite characters. I love the old head on those little girl shoulders. |

Like Chesney he was cute and a good performer as a kid, but hasn't transitioned well into being an older performer. Also, it's become more obvious over the years that Alex Bain is mixed-race.

The character's awful, the actor isn't very good and usually his anger is just hilarious, and the storyline's rubbish. At least it's more entertaining than the EE Bobby crap, though, you do get some laughs from Simon.

) and they really annoy me as well so I'd say Alex Bain is doing a pretty good job.
