I sent Quidco a ticket asking them about the cash back and this was their reply...

The Vodafone sim that has been discounted is still eligible for the £80.00 cashback as long as you go through the Quidco website and to the retailers site. The only time the cashback would be void would be if you used a voucher or a discount code. But as Vodafone have discounted this for everyone you will be eligible for the cash back.

Happy days!!

It baffles me why in this day and age cash back offers have to be done by post why can't you email the bill/receipt or whatever it is across instead?

And playing devils advocate here but with all the heavy discounting going on with the top end tariff of 20gb (was 50% now 40%) does anyone think we will see a shift in the amount of data allowance going up with the rental price staying the same?

If that's the case, then another switch will be on the cards.

(My bolding)

Offer ends 27 April...
Vodafone shop - SIM only deals

I was tempted to start a new thread about this, but I'm not sure every new offer needs a new thread!

The e2save cashback makes it a pretty sweet deal (at least for those who aren't currently on Vodafone).

Possibly noting that whilst it does make it an effective cost of £12 a month, from a cashflow perspective you'll still be paying £24 a month with £28.80 cashback payable after submitting the bills for months 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 - they then take six to eight weeks to send out the cashback cheque.

Vodafone no longer Netflix offered as part of the bundled entertainment package - the choice is now down to a Spotify subscription, the NOW TV Entertainment plan or Sky Sports Mobile TV.

(I did/do take some issue with those who said that as a result the mobile plan cost was/is effectively lower, i.e. minus the relevant subscription to whichever service, as not everyone wants one of these services. But that's by the by.)

I expect a lot of people use at least one of those services though. I have had Spotify for years so for me it's a genuine £10 a month value.

I think every time I've written about it, and everywhere else I've read about it, the discounted price is always stated as 'effectively' and the actual price is clearly shown too.

Re the latter point, absolutely - I'm not saying you or anyone else quotes the plan price as the real price minus a subscription to one of these services.

And yes, up to a point it was an attractive offer - I say "was" as I think the absence of Netflix makes it somewhat less attractive - though one could just as well argue that lower price plans rather than bundled stuff would be preferable.

But some people don't watch much TV, and don't particularly want streaming music - if they want music they might well have it locally (on their mobile device, or indeed not on their mobile device but through other means at home). Then there's the issue that such services can eat up your mobile data allowance if used when out and about - less of an issue with a 20GB plan, but relevant for say a 4GB plan.

I'm just throwing in an alternative perspective, that's all.

Not sure about the Sky Sports mobile thing, but Now TV, Spotify and Netflix can all be enjoyed elsewhere. I generally download Spotify music to my phone when at home, so it's usable offline, and my Netflix/Amazon Instant Video/Now TV viewing is 95% on a big screen at home.

Vodafone should perhaps make that point clearer, as it's not just for usage on your phone. You're right that a 4GB plan wouldn't last long for streaming a HD movie. Two, maybe three films tops.

Sky Sports Mobile means you can only watch on your phone.

I can't see it as a great attraction myself, as a standalone thing. If I'm watching sport on TV, really I want to watch it on a decent size screen!

I'm aware the other stuff can be used elsewhere... personally, apart from Spotify I'd actually far prefer to use them elsewhere! So from my viewpoint, the link between the TV services and mobile is a bit weak, but I appreciate many others have quite a different take in that they're quite happy to watch TV on their mobile.

FWIW Netflix would have been my choice but no longer!

An aside... given that Sky's plan is to launch an MVNO on O2, you wonder how much longer Vodafone will be offering these bundle deals for Sky services (NOW TV being a Sky brand)?

jonmorris was talking about choosing Netflix.

It's a shame they don't offer it anymore.

Good point. I don't think anyone has mentioned that yet, let me just check back through the previous posts in this thread...
