Seems to be a lot of faint praise in this thread for the Christmas special. Personally I thought it was bloody excellent and hope for lots more Last Tango, sooner the better.

PS - I'm glad the Rupert Graves character seems to have disappeared as I really hated the arrogant tool - the character not the actor I mean

I struggled to get through the 1st episode, it just seemed so dismal, so didn't watch the 2nd ep. Shame because I used to really enjoy it.

Yeah, perhaps you needed to watch the previous series but, would I want to sit through all that? No, I don't think so, not based on those two episodes. There was something slight depressing about the whole thing .”

Yes that's how it affected me.

Exactly this.

I really feel this might turn into one series too many. I found myself losing interest halfway through. I have loved it up until now.

It doesn't help that I find Gillian increasingly irritating and self-centred. Maybe it's Nicola Walker's hesitant delivery that annoys me. I know a lot of people enjoy her acting style in this but it spoils it for me and there was far too much of her last night.

Just my opinion, so no brickbats, please. ”

The hesitant delivery from both Caroline & Gillian was driving me nuts, so annoying. I felt like yelling 'just get on with it!'.

I agree with you but it seems we're in the minority.
Amazing how people's expectations differ so across the spectrum.

One should always bear in mind that those most likely to comment are the moaners and groaners. Those who, like myself, simply watched it and enjoyed it for what it was feel the need less to say so.

On the contrary, you are almost certainly in a huge majority. .

It was a parody of itself, but then again if you don't watch it you've got to watch something else.

I was very glad to have them back - if only for a Christmas special !!

Brilliant acting from the main characters - very enjoyable.

In the closing long shot I was expecting to see the "haunted" barn being burnt down!

Crossed my mind as well.

Enjoyed it, but it felt 'rushed', and didn't need the bit about the amateur dramatics in my opinion.

Just watched the 2nd, really enjoyed both of them.

The ghost story and play did drag a bit at times but Nicola Walker was excellent and kept it intense. Agree that there's definitely still room for another series, seeing how Caroline gets on at the school and how Gillian copes mentally.

Wonder how long we'll have to wait for it though?

This made me LOL!

I must admit that I'd not really noticed Nicola Walker's faltering style of delivery, but my OH had (and does a cracking impression!) and once she'd shared it with me, it started to drive me mad too!

Well I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope there is another full series.

I quite enjoyed the familiarity of it. It was OK for a Christmas bauble but frankly it felt a bit contrived and lacked the interest and good plotting of earlier outings.

It wasn't as good as the previous series. The ghost story and the amateur dramatic one just kind of fizzled out. But when Caroline came back to her old self at the end and sailed confidently into the school, I remembered how good this series can be, so hopefully we'll see more of it in the future.

I agree and as a Christmas special it was much better than anything else on offer.
