Tempered glass screen protectors
Hi. I have just got a Motorola X Force and am interested in trying out a tempered glass screen protector. The X Force is shatter proof but sadly not scratch proof. A company called Nillkin makes one and I am interested to test one out.

Why don't you buy it and give yours.

I've had glass screen protectors on a couple of phones and a tablet.
I think they're really good, far better than those plastic ones that get bubbles in them and start to peel off. You have to be careful about cleaning and preparing the device prior to fitting but if you follow the instructions all should be well. I'd wholeheartedly recommend them but I've never actually put one to the test by dropping a device that had one fitted! |

Screen-protectors? Unless you're going on the beach and leaving your phone in the sand, there's next to nothing which should be able to scratch your screen in normal usage
Screen protectors get scratched because they're plastic and actually very easy to scratch surfaces (which is intended to make you think: yeah the screen-protector has worked). The GorillaGlass on most smartphones wouldn't get scratched by anything which comes into contact with it, unless you use a sharp tool to deliberately scrape the surface. Screen protectors are, for most people, a complete waste of time and money, which makes their touch-screen device thicker and less responsive than it was intended to be. |

I tend to agree with the comment above but have a Nilkin glass screen protector fitted to my Moto x Style. Fits well and for the Style does the job. After maybe a year of use my phones have ended up with loads of very fine scratches that can only be seen if the display is off and tilted at an angle to the light. I put this down to fine grit getting into pockets from my job in agriculture.
It does look like the Force plastic top layer will scratch but it is replaceable. As it has quite a few layers to start with another layer may not be beneficial. See if it scratches and if it does you can at least replace it. |

Scratches I agree with they are pretty much resilient to anything in normal use but drops are a different thing entirely. I swear by screen protectors a £5 tempered glass protector is vastly cheaper than a new screen on a brand new phone. |

Your phone screen will get scratched in your pocket by tiny grains of sand.
So yes, your screen can easily get scratched. |

I've never scratched mine, but I've usually always had a screen protector on it most of the time although my friend has a scratch in the screen of his iPhone that he did not have a protector on and he is very careful with his phone (does not put keys or loose change in the same pocket etc). |

Even GG4 will scratch fairly easily if you have some fine sand on a surface or in your pocket. If that is a problem to you the a tempered glass protector is a great idea. Plastic ones are s h i t e and the worse ones are the wet application type. Horrible.

May get one of these with the S7. Really depends on how they feel when touching the screen. Personally I don't really go with cases or screen protectors. I like how the phone feels in the hand without anything extra added to it.

Glass all the way.
I don't think anyone has yet found a way to make a glass screen that is shatterproof and scratch proof. It's more a case of one or the other, as hardening the screen to resist scratches makes it more prone to shattering. So I'd go with a shatterproof screen and then use a sacrificial glass protector that can get scratched over time, and get replaced with ease. Indeed that's exactly what I do. The comments above about screen protectors being bad is only relevant to plastic ones. They are useless, although they serve a purpose of protecting the screen from scratches, and if you're willing to change regularly might suffice for some. Glass ones are easier to fit too. Good ones will be as good as invisible, especially if you have the phone in a case. |

To be fair, I find matte plastic screen protectors last for a long time. They just make the phone screen a bit fuzzy.

I don't mind cases, and usually buy thin ones that will protect from the annoying dents and scratches that are almost impossible to avoid.
My Nexus 6P has a case that also has a small flip out stand, which makes it awesome for watching films when travelling. Adds a couple of mm at most. |
