Help please re PS3

I'm giving my PS3 away so how can I ensure that all my data is off it? Step by step idiot guide would be appreciated as I'm useless with these things.

You need to deactivate your PS3 so it is no longer attached to your PSN account, and then you need to format the Hard Drive.

I would recommend removing the drive and formatting using high level erasing on a computer.

Settings > System Settings > Restore PS3 System > Full Format.

Or as soon as you take the hard drive out and plug it back in it will wipe the drive for you.
