HDR-2000T question
I have had one of the above for a couple of months now, and I would like to explore the on-line capabilities. (Wi-fi) I have a Wireless USB adaptor (54M/150M/300Mbps)
I've tried this but no joy. Should this work or do I need to buy the Humax Wi-Fi USB Adaptor? Regards and thanks in advance |

I've tried this but no joy. Should this work or do I need to buy the Humax Wi-Fi USB Adaptor? The most common Humax Wi-Fi USB Adapter uses the RT3070 chipset. Most other dongles with the same chipset will also work, the only known exception being Edimax - EW - 7711 Models when it comes with windows 8.1 compatible sticker stuck on the box. When buying a non-humax alternative to their generic dingle make sure the it is described as having the RT3070 chipset. Manufacturers do change chip sets occasionally and just becaue one dongle's review states that it works for Humax does not mean that it will still work when you get around to purchasing it. A secondary Humax wi-WI Adaptor uses the RT5572N chipset. This adapter can only be used on the HDR-2000T and HDR-1800T that are running software version 1.0.13 or later. No other Humax models will recognise this newer dongle. The one I use with my HDR-2000T cost from about £7. Note the mention of RT5572N in the description :http://www.amazon.co.uk/ESYNiC-300Mb...=sr_1_fkmr0_1? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5Ghz-5G-2-...item4d3ef32d9b. It has reasonable range for a non-antenna dongle, the LED light isn't too distracting, and it has the flexibility of using the modern 5GHz as well as the traditional 2.4GHz. . |
