Hi,

have decided to get another cat after losing my last one to cancer last year.

Reserved a 5 month old kitten at rescue centre and turns out it has this.

They are treating with anti biotics for 7 days then vet will re check.

Does anyone have any experience of this, are there any long term effects and does it re occur??

Any help appreciated.

One of ours had it when she was around 18 months or so old. Antibiotics cleared it but we were told she would always be susceptible to it. She is now 10 and to my knowledge we've never had another bout of it BUT she has always had issues with a 'delicate pancreas'. This may or may not be related! She goes off her food and is generally withdrawn for a few days at a time - which is usually resolved by taking her to the vet, who can never find anything wrong, she has no treatment at all and magically starts eating as soon as she gets home again. We think she just likes the trip in the car!
