Here we are then our favourite characters this year, thank you to everyone who joined in. I’ll try and get through the results as quickly as possible but as I’m yet to finish sorting all the results there will be a few breaks.

36 Luke Britton 4.99% (x-x-x-x-26-36)

Luke drops 10 places from last year. I’m guessing this is due to his lack of presence apart from the revenge porn storyline which saw him being blackmailed by his old friend and his sisters ex Jamie to participate in street racing. Now I don’t know about you but I had no interest in this storyline, which is a shame because I think he could be a good character but at the moment he doesn’t annoy me and not one of my favourites so his rank seems right to me.

35 Kirk Sutherland 5.10% (39-33-32-33-32-35)

Kirk keeps his consistent ranking just dropping 3 places on last year. Now I’ve racked my brain on what Kirk has been up to this year and apart from taking part in the awful camping trip with the even more awful Paddy McGuiness I can’t think of anything. So his position seems right he’s an OK background character at the moment.

34 Maria Connor 5.60% (33-27-29-38-18-34)

Maria drops 16 places from last year ranking more in line with her previous rankings. Personally I don’t get the appeal I find the character very dull. This is probably why I can’t think of anything Marie has done the last year apart from dating Luke, the occasional bit of hairdressing and disappearing a while ago, possibly to her parents.

33 Bethany Platt 5.73% (x-x-x-x-x-33)

For her first appearance in this competition Bethany ranks mid table. I can’t say I was excited about her and her mother’s return the Platt family was large enough and hogged most of the storylines as it was. Having run away from Italy she developed a crush on Callum who manipulated her to do some very stupid things. I don’t mind Bethany but the writing and the actress make her seem a couple of years older than she is and that’s a big gap at that age.

32 Rob Donovan 6.04% (x-x-47-37-x-32)

Although Rob only appeared for a few episodes I decided to pick him from the supporting cast list over the younger children as I thought he had a better chance of ranking. I did start to like Rob in his previous stint but his recent stint did nothing for me and doesn’t really seemed to have done anything. He wanted revenge on Tracy so told Robert that Tracy wanted him Ok they broke up but they are now back together. He tried to blackmail Johnny but failed and Johnny’s parentage of Carla could have come out another way. All in all I found his appearance pointless and surprised he ranked as high as he did.

31 Anna Windass 6.19% (31-14-22-38-45-31)

From the comments on the episode threads I’m a little surprised to see Anna climbing 14 places. I’m glad though I really like Anna and can’t understand the hate. Last year she had to deal with her daughter having a baby and then the heartbreak of the baby’s father’s parents emigrating with her. After some disastrous adepts at dating evenings she hooked up with Kevin Webster but with the return of Phelan things aren’t running smoothly.

30 Sarah Platt 6.27% (x-x-x-x-x-30)

This year sees Sarah’s first entry in the competition. I wasn’t looking forward to the return, the Platt’s seem to hog the storylines as it is and I find I get bored of them so more Platt’s was the last thing I wanted. She arrived back in Weatherfield to drag Bethany back to Italy but ended up staying taking a job at the Rovers where they are lucky if she does 5 minutes of her shift. She hooked up with drug dealer Callum for some bizarre reason and is now expecting his child.

29 Aidan Connor 6.27% (x-x-x-x-x-29)

Another new entry Aidan turned up to buy into Underworld to help Carla out after she had gambled all her money away. But as it turned out the money was his dads Johnny’s money so he rocked up to along with sister Kate. I’m not sure about Aidan yet sometimes I like him others I find him rather annoying.

28 Andy Carver 6.31% (x-x-x-x-28-28)

Matching his position last year we have Andy, he’s an OK character for me but doesn’t really do anything but background so not really on my radar. The only thing I can think of that he did last year was getting involved in Steph’s revenge porn storyline where he just seemed to make everything worse.

27 Emily Bishop 6.80% (29-26-24-22-36-27)

Fairly constant with her positions we have Emily. I like Emily but she doesn’t really do much anymore I guess given the actress’ age she’s asked for a lighter contract. We recently saw her heading off to Peru to help Spider with his charity work.

26 Ken Barlow 6.85% (21-22-19-27-14-26)

Ken drops 12 places on last year I’m guessing this is due to his bizarre decision to start dating the god awful Nessa. Where we saw him sporting jeans then a couple of weeks later seeing Nessa buying him said jeans (not sure if that was an editing mistake or whether the writers are not told what each is writing). He is now after Audrey after finding out she likes him, can’t stand being single that man it’s not long since he lost Deidre.

25 Craig Tinker 6.99% (13-8-11-14-25-25)

Craig matches his position from last year, I really like Craig he is one of the better youngsters. At last year’s camping trip Craig met Caitlin who he started dating. His other main focus last year was his graffiti which Sally thought was Banksy, he went on to do a memorial for Maddy which he had to replace when the council power washed his first effort.

24 Norris Cole 7.16% (7-10-8-4-10-24)

Norris drops 14 places on last year seeing him drop out of the top 10 for the first time since this competition started. Not sure why this is perhaps his moaning/eavesdropping is starting to wear thin or maybe other characters have just become more enjoyable to watch. I’m struggling to think of any storyline Norris has had this year only thing I can think of is the saga of the undelivered parcel other than that he’s just been a background character perhaps that explains the drop.


23 Rita Tanner 7.50% (13-8-11-14-21-23)

Rita drops a couple of places on last year. She’s not done much this year apart from Jenny who she wanted nothing to do with on her first return but finding out the heartbreak Jenny went through with the loss of her child changed her mind. She is now on her side despite the opposition from the rest of the street. As much as I like Jenny I doubt she’ll keep up the goody two shoes act.

22 Steph Britton 7.61% (x-x-x-57-22-22)

Keeping consistent in the ratings we have Steph. I really like Steph and wish she was used more. She did start off well but seemed to have become a background character. She did seem to have a good friendship with Sophie which should be used more. This year her only storyline seemed to be the revenge porn which really didn’t go down well mainly down to the stupid interference from Luke and Andy.

21 Eileen Grimshaw 7.69% (2-11-18-16-15-21)

Eileen drops 6 places on last year. I didn’t used to mind Eileen but I’ve really gone off her. I think her last few storylines held no interest for me the stupid storyline of Todd pretending to be a bloke from Dubai to get back at her, then stealing Michael from Gail and rubbing it at every opportunity.


So that’s all the Characters who got knocked out in Round 2. I’ll try and post some more later this evening until then do we have any predictions for the Top 3 this year.

My predictions for top 3, in no particular order are Roy Cropper, Kylie Platt and Sally Metralfe. I'd say top ten will see David, Steve, Carla and Tim. Looking forward to the big reveal.

20 Nick Tilsley 6.59% (47-36-35-28-20-20)

Nick manages to match his position from last year. I never used to like Nick but he seems to have grown on me over time. Didn’t really like him with Leanne so glad they broke up yet again they work much better as friends. Wasn’t really sure about his relationship with Carla but I quite like them together shame it’s doomed.

19 Beth Sutherland 6.86% (x-52-16-15-19-19)

Beth also matches her position from last year. I’m not really sure about Beth sometimes I like her sometimes I find her irritating. Another member of the Corrie on Camping gang where she had a allergic reaction on got help from a monk in training ex con.

18 Jason Grimshaw 7.37% (18-30-25-17-23-18)

Jason climbs 5 places on last year, I really like Jason although not one of my top characters so his position seems right for me. He’s not really had a great year taking the virginity of his mate’s girlfriend andbeing dragged into the Callum storyline where he took a vicious beating.

17 Kevin Webster 7.53% (37-28-26-35-17-17)

Another character matching their place from last year we have Kevin. Getting together with Jenny Bradley he thought things were going well until she kidnapped Jack. His love life may not have been going well but with the opportunity to buy an old friends business and his daughters sudden found business accruement in his work life is going from strength to strength. He’s now dating Anna which I find a rather odd pairing.

16 Amy Barlow 8.30% (52-56-56-53-43-16)

Amy jumps a massive 27 places on last year obviously turning her into a mini Tracy has worked wonders for her popularity. I have to say she’s definitely my favourite young character. While in real life I’d find her extremely annoying she’s very entertaining to watch.

15 Tracy Barlow 8.60% (42-45-41-36-9-15)

Just beating her daughter we have Tracy. I really like Tracy and she would have been top 10 for me I know some of you don’t like her and yes she’s a nasty piece of work but that doesn’t stop her being great to watch and she does get some cracking lines. She’s had a busy year losing her Mum, adding a couple more victims to her death toll although not the one she was after and nearly killing her daughter in the process. Getting back together with ex husband Robert then nearly blowing it when she thought she could get back with Rob.

14 Mary Taylor 8.75% (21-24-20-6-12-14)

Mary drops a couple of places on last year. Another character who I sometimes like while at other times find irritating. We recently saw her fall for married man Brendan until his wife showed up, can’t say I had any interest in this storyline I much prefer Mary when she’s not the main focus coming out with her odd stories.

13 Jenny Bradley 8.83% (x-x-x-x-27-13)

Climbing 14 places we have Jenny Bradley, I can’t say I’m ever excited when I hear of returning characters as they’re usually never as good the 2nd time around but I’ve really enjoyed Jenny being back hopefully Sally Ann Matthews is on a longer contract this time. Jenny recently returned to the street after her treatment for a breakdown and kidnapping Jack to replace her son she tragically lost. Although after scenes with Kirk and Sally it looks like she’s still having issues with her mental health.

12 Todd Grimshaw 9.09% (x-x-x-43-44-12)

Another big climber we have Todd jumping a whopping 32 places. I have to say I much prefer him now he’s stopped his stupid revenge plots on his family like sexting his mother pretending to be Jeff from Dubai. Although him working in a porn shop and now florist doesn’t seem quite right he works so well with Tracy I can overlook it.



Right that’s the last of the characters knocked out in the semi finals so just our final 11 characters to go, Audrey Roberts, Carla Connor, David Platt, Eva Price, Gail Rodwell, Kylie Platt, Leanne Tisley, Roy Cropper, Sally Metcalfe, Steve McDonald and Tim Metcalfe who will be number 1 this year?

I’ll try my best to get them up by the end of the night I know it’s annoying having to wait until the next day.

Oooh exciting for the top 11 reveal!

I think Sally deserves the title, she is such a fab character and the pairing with Tim has just worked magnificently.

I would like to see a top six of Sally, Leanne, Carla, David, Gail, Tim!

11 Leanne Tisley 307points (4-3-10-13-8-11)

I was expecting Leanne to finish a tad higher but with such a good final this year any place is good. She’s had a rough year what with losing Kal in the fire at Victoria Court and having to deal with Satan’s spawn Simon. Bet she wishes she never asked for guardianship of the grumpy git. Peter must be laughing his head off I notice when he returned to the UK he settled on the South coast well away from him.

10 Steve McDonald 308points (5-9-12-11-11-10)

Just beating Leanne by 1 point we have Steve. I was surprised Steve made the Final not because I don’t think he’s a great character I do but as Simon Gregson has had quite a bit of time off with health issues Steve hasn’t really done much this year other than make a fuss of Rover and popping over to Spain to see Andy.

9 Eva Price 310points (x-48-33-20-16-9)

Eva beats Steve by 2 points and after a steady climb through the rankings over the years finally makes it to the Top 10. Eva returned to the cobbles from her Grans where she fled when Todd successfully got revenge on Jason by convincing him Eva was having affair with his Father. Now dating newcomer Aiden will it last, judging by Eva’s unlucky in love record probably not.

8 Gail Rodwell 323points (22-11-14-8-4-8)

Dropping 4 places it’s Gail. After losing husband number 5 to her least favourite person on the street Eileen, Gail’s main focus has been on her Granny Annex which she even had a party to show off. I guessing she won’t be quite so thrilled with it when it finally comes out she’s been sleeping on Callum’s grave. I do like Gail but the Platt’s do have a habit of dominating the storylines and I get fed up of them after a while until they finally have a break and then can enjoy them again on their return.

7 Audrey Roberts 350points (16-20-3-7-6-7)

Beating her daughter and staying consistent in the rankings for the last couple of years we have Audrey. I really like Audrey and have to admire her if the Platts were my family I would have cleared off long ago without leaving a trace. Audrey hasn’t done much this year but has suddenly developed feelings for Ken, she is now avoiding him like the plague after revealing her true feelings to him.

6 Kylie Platt 379points (47-7-1-10-13-6)

Kylie jumps back into the Top 10 after last year’s placing. I’m quite surprised on her placing myself I’m really starting to go off her. Returning after being chucked out by David for drug taking she seemed to be getting back to normal until Callum started causing trouble, finding him attacking Sarah she killed him.

OK we have our top 5 characters Carla, David, Roy, Sally and Tim, cracking top 5 for me but what order will they be?

I have to say, my current interest in actually watching Corrie regularly is pretty diminished these days as it's generally pretty dire, but I do dip in and out and as a result I voted on this as and when possible. And seeing/reading these results is very interesting.
Thank you Roni_J for taking the time, trouble and effort to do this. I'm finding it all really quite fascinating!

5 Carla Connor 387points (1-2-6-3-2-5)

In 5th place we have Carla, one of my favourites so glad on the high placing. Where do you start nearly went over a cliff in a mini bus until arch enemy Tracy pulled her out, nearly died in a fire accidentally started by arch enemy Tracy, sleeps with arch enemy Tracy’s boyfriend if I was Carla I’d get as far away from Tracy as possible. Recently she has found out that Johnny Connor is her father, which she really didn’t take well. To be fair if I’d been dragged up by an alcoholic slapper and a dad who was just as bad and then found out my real father suspected he was my dad but did nothing and left me in that situation I’d be mighty peeved too.
