Iphone 5se
Tele_addict

Do I get an iPhone 5s now while they are cheap or do I wait for the IPhone 5se which is released in March? The IPhone 5se is a newer upgraded version but will it be as cheap as the iPhone 5s is at the moment? I have a feeling a newer model will be more expensive.

Best answer?
Iphone 6 as a minimum (unless the 5se does VoLTE and I don't know as I haven't looked into it).

Nobody has any idea if the iPhone 5SE even exists, let alone what the price and specifications might me.

Well it definitely exists as a date in March has been confirmed. It's just the name they are not 100 per cent certain on. Speculation is it will be the same price as the iPhone 5s so it might be worth hanging on instead of getting an old model.

The date hasn't been confirmed. It's rumoured that an event will take place in March on a certain date. Apple haven't said anything about an event yet.

At this unannounced event Apple may (or may not!) talk about some (or all!) of new iPads, this iPhone and watch straps

Add to that Apple Pay, iOS 9.3 and the possibility of new iMacs and MacBook Pros. Sometimes the rumour mill gets far too excited then get disappointed when Apple update just three of their products!

I'd bet the house on the iPhone 5se coming in March (not necessarily the name, but the smaller iPhone device with refreshed components). Those who originally leaked the date rarely get anything wrong when dealing with Apple rumours. And some legit Apple sites and commentators have been discussing the event and smaller iPhone device as if it were a fact (Gruber, Dalrymple). iPad Air 3 is also a certainty for March for the same reasons.

Changes to the Mac lineup have not been confirmed by anyone with a track record I would trust. MacBook updates are due though sometime soon with skylake processors so it would make sense to include them in the event if they are ready to go on sale.

With your user name surely you should know?

You have to assume that the SE will be upgraded to have the same screen resolution as the 6s.

It will be a smart move from Apple in that I always felt it bonkers for Samsung not to continue updating its S2. Instead the market is flooded with mid to very basic 4" smartphones as cheap as £18.

I have a feeling the new SE will match the current discounted price on the 5s, but at Apple. £299 still leaves a very big profit margin and might just attract new converts.

I do wonder why they would price a new phone so low. A cheaper iPhone could stop people going for the more expensive iPhone 6s. especially if its as low as the 5s. After all, theres a lot of people not fussed about the new features on the 6s.

I don't think it will be cheap. Apple don't do cheap do they. On release the 5c was almost £500. That's not cheap.

They'll just remove some features and price is at slightly less than the 6s so people think 'well for £30 more I can have a full fat iPhone'. It'll replace the 5s in their current line up and they'll make just as much money as always.

It will appeal only to those who don't like larger phones, I personally don't like larger phones so am kind of interested. But it will depend on the specs.

My guess is spec wise it wise it will be similar to the 5s.

I'm expecting it to be a very good upgrade from the 5s. 2gb ram, better processor, better camera. It certainly won't have the best processor or camera, but it'll still probably be good enough to qualify as the third best smartphone on the market after the 6s Plus, and 6s.

I don't think it'll be any higher spec than the 6, might even be the 6 in a smaller form factor.

My guess is it wont be much cheaper than the 6 when it is released. Probably on contract £28 a month upwards I'm guessing.

I agree, Pricing will be somewhere between the 5s and 6, 28 sounds about right.

Yes, it does create a dilemma, but maybe a price adjustment is due. When the iPhone first launched, I think a reduction from 400 to 300 is what started tha massive iPhone boom.
So I do wonder if £300 would cause another surge, especially with the 4" sized competition not exactly flowing with quality.

Of course, £300 is way too low if the main sales are via expensive contracts, a high street price/rrp being needed to sell the contract better.

http://m.theinquirer.net/inquirer/ne...cs-and-rumours

"The handset will reportedly look to those after a cheap, pint-sized iPhone, and will reportedly mimic the iPhone 5C with stripped-back features and a budget price."
"Online gossip suggests that the iPhone 6C will feature a 1,715mAh battery, improving on the 1,500mAh offering inside the iPhone 5C"

It is too contradictary, the metal case not mimicing the plastic 5c. I will go along with it being named the 6c, it being a likely replacement for the 5s
