Nioxin

Read an article and have heard of chemo patients using it but does it actually help increase hair growth for people who are losing hair or have lost hair due to treatment such as Chemothreapy

When I lost some of my hair I was so desperate I used nioxin. Then I learned about how chemicals in products can make things worse for your scalp and hair so I went sulphate and parben free. I've used the doctor organics range from holland and Barrett since and not looked back. My hair has been much thicker since. They also do a hemp range now specially for hair loss it's cheaper than nioxin too.
I found massaging my scalp with coconut oil and essential oils helped too

I hope you dont mind me asking but was your hair loss natural or from chemo

I've not used Nioxin. I used a cold cap whilst having my chemo and although my hair thinned a bit I kept most of it, and the loss wasn't noticeable. Although I did have thick hair to start with. I was always advised to use very simple hair products to wash my hair and not wash it too often. It seemed to work as my hair is back to being very thick again.

I don't want to come across as intrusive but is there any particular reason for asking since you're a young person who wouldn't normally need to use such products? Refining the underlying reason why you're asking might mean that you then get a better and more precise answer if you can see where I am coming from. It may not initially seem like it but I am trying to be helpful.

I lost my hair twice, first time to Crohns Disease and the medication I was on. Whilst it really didnt fall out, it was extremely thin, after having very long thick and shiny hair. My hairdresser recommended Nioxin, and it literally transformed my hair, Its not over night, dont get me wrong. But it was fantastic

I have now just been through Chemotherapy, difference is this time i have NO HAIR. So nothing to actually use my Nioxin with. I am waiting for some growth to come through then at that point I will start to use it.

I do recommend it, but like I say its not overnight and be patient

I tried the cold cap for 9 weeks and ended up giving up, it was way too much for me when they pout me on to weekly sessions. I kept my hair, but within two weeks it was all out.

I admire that you stuck with it

What is the cold cap?

Did anyone mention vit E oil?
Take a read of http://www.med-health.net/Vitamin-E-For-Hair.html and http://www.livestrong.com/article/53...e-hair-growth/

I had radiotherapy following breast cancer surgery and when all my damaged & broken hair was cut off I used Pro-Naturals hair repair system. My hair is no longer damaged even though I use heat styling tools (always applied the argan oil leave in treatment prior to using heat). I now add Vit E oil to the Pro-Naturals argan oil hair mask, kind of belt & braces. It might be of help to you.

Thanks for the info - I have passed on to ladies in my group who all had breast cancer and who now have to undergo chemotherapy as well.
