Top brand t bags in pound shops

Just bought tyhpoo and tettley tea bags from poundlands
On the boxes which contain 76 bags, states one cup..
These are terrible the amount of tea in these bags is less than a pinch of salt
And the tea is tastless. Yet the same of tea bags in supermarkets which are of course more expensive for 80 have more tea in the bags.

ARE these t bags rejects?

No, but you've just answered your own question really. The ones which are more expensive have more tea in them - are you really surprised?

The Poundland ones are probably made especially for that market, like a lot of consumables bought in those places. How else can the stores make a profit otherwise?

However sweets and chocolates seem to be the same quanity and size.

I really don't see the point in scrimping on tea bags. Even a decent brand will only cost a few pence per cup.

In some cases they are, but in quite a lot of branded products the pack size is smaller. The poundshops actually have a deal with the manufacturers to make them that size and the store buys them in bulk.

Anything that is the same size as supermarket stuff is usually too close to the best before date for supermarkets to sell in large numbers, hence it's bought by the poundshops.

And finally, some items are imported (but made in the UK) so pack sizes are often smaller for overseas markets, and tax reasons.

Lol actually i cannot drink poor quality tea, however my wife can..
She actually buys asda 1000 t bags, which have been reduced from a tenner to £4.50 she is chuffed to bits.. and the tea content per bag is good compared to the branded ones in the pound shop

I think Typhoo is disgusting. Very, very poor tea. One cup Tetleys are very poor as well.

Might as well pay an extra pound and get a decent, quality brew. It works out several pence per bag anyway.
