Yep HH6 has needed a daily reset and speed down to 27 from 33.

Split. Even the "Help" section says split if you get dropouts, slow speed etc.

Mines is the same it dit not update @ last one and then the proplems started.

Had HH6 for a month. Constant dropping of WiFi across all devices. Plays havoc with the SkyQ system. Messed about with the channels - done everything they said. Told by customer "care" that they cannot swap as their tests on the line are showing no problems! Asked to speak with a supervisor "not one on the floor". Have been promised a call back - but it will be tomorrow as he is in a meeting !! Wonder if the meeting is about their rubbish equipment!

Don't forget the old saying 'a good workman never blames his tools'. If the HH is generally a well accepted product (which it is, I certainly never have issues with it) then it might be wiser to look nearer home e.g. your own setup, wiring etc.

Give me some credit. No problem with hub when using ethernet. Issue is totally with wifi dropping no matter what distance from router. Never had this issue until HH6.

It might be "well accepted" by you but not by everyone.

The only way I made an HH5 bearable was to flash Openwrt onto it. Works really well now - none of the issues and restrictions of the BT firmware.

A good workman would hopefully buy decent tools and not use freebies that he got at some trade show, for paying work

You have to wonder if there is a faulty batch of Smart Hubs in the wild, i have had mine since they came out and it has been brilliant, no drop out, no resets, no locking up, the 2.4GHz WiFi is now just about as fast at the 5GHz WiFi, i have nothing but praise for it.

Also no major issues to report. Signal appear steady throughout. The TV advert advising Wi-Fi at 200 metres is a little suspect!

I had to revert back to my hh5 had nothing but problems with hh6 constant drop outs, i'll try it again in a couple of months incase a software update rolls out to fix the issues.

And why is that a reason to give you credit? It could be something simple that you may have overlooked. Which of the two wifi protocols is it dropping the connection on e.g. 5MHz etc.

The clue is in the word 'generally' which does not refer to a person singular. Why you assume it's 'free' as many do including Sky boxes etc. is a mystery to me. The price is built into the package. There's no such thing as a 'free lunch'.

My particular BT Infinity package has behaved exemplary - I get 51 out of the 52 mbps advertised and wireless almost maximum in every room. Something BTW that my Airport Extreme cannot manage.

Not a very high bar. Airports have always been mediocre at best, and the current model is now ancient...

Never had *any* issue with my HH6. It's just faster than my previous router and that's all that matters to me.

The thought never entered my head to check the wiring etc until you mentioned it .........

Split the frequencies -, the 5MHz signal I couldn't tell you if drops or not as the signal is so weak it barely reaches the next room and since the router is in a room where I need to connect by ethernet I am never in there long enough to check it.

The 2.4MHz drops off every 20 mins or so at some points - yesterday afternoon it was dropping every 5 mins for around a hour. You can sometimes go several hours with no problems but then it starts again.

Had VM for 5 years and never had a single problem with Wifi drop. Few problems with the cabinet nearby continuously failing but thats a different issue.

I am going to put a new router on it later today - I'll leave it for a few days and see if that holds or drops - will identify if it is the router or the line or not!

My new smart hub came this morning, so far so good. It worked straight away but I spent some time separating the 5GHz and 2.4GHz wireless networks etc.

I sync at 74.29 Mbps which is confirmed by speedtest, a bit odd as I am on Infinity 1 up to 52 Mbps! My BT still says that I am on the up to 52 Mbps broadband package. On my home hub 5 I was getting around 51 Mbps.

The WiFi seems at least as good as the home hub 5.

There seem to have been major problems with several versions of the Home Hub recently. Several threads on the BT Community forum are littered with complaints about lost WiFi on all versions from 3 to 6. It gives the impression of a rogue update which is common to them all.

BT have yet to hold up their hands and say what they are doing about it, mainly just saying that they do not give support in the case of WiFi problems because of the wide variations in the home electrical environment.

The only reliable solution seems to be to buy a commercial router like TP-Link and stop using the Home Hubs.

I agree, I've 2 Smarthubs, currently on different firmwares and both suffer with the known problem of blue light on but no internet connection and an inability to access the GUI. One updated to the latest firmware and gave me a solid connection for 12 days but failed today.

I've not had the WiFi problem (my son has).

There are long threads on the BT forum about Smarthub problems.

If changing to a 3rd party router it's worth noting that if you have BT TV the router has to support multicast to watch the internet channels.

My HH5 doesn't like my Lenovo laptop when it comes to WiFi. There's wireless drops, often leading to the home hub completely rebooting. In the end I got a cheapo Edimax usb WiFi dongle and that fixed it. All my other stuff, TVs, radios, phones tablets it doesn't have a problem with.

I could blamed the laptop's WiFi, but then it works fine when connected to other types of router. Bit of a strange one.

One way to clear it seems to be to connect by Ethernet cable to a laptop, which should give Internet access and access to the Hub Manager and then change the WiFi channel.
What you have described above (BIB) is the WiFi problem.
Not just Smarthub, WiFi on HH3, 4 and 5 as well in recent months.

No it isn't - there's no access to the GUI when connected via ethernet.

Are you talking about the Hub Manager? I had no trouble connecting to it via Ethernet using 192.168.1.254 on the Home Hub 3 when I couldn't via WiFi.

Yes - it's as if the modem side of things is inoperative but the router seems OK. I was still able to access my NAS drives but not the internet. On the HH6 people are reporting DHCP problems where 2 wireless devices are allocated the same IP address I haven't experienced this. I've seen many reports of people unable to access the Hub manager via ethernet

Today, when I had my disconnect I connected via cable then rebooted the router, the blue light came on but there was no internet connection. I was able to access the hub manager which showed the modem as connected to the net. When I tried to navigate to another page the connection to the router disappeared and couldn't be re-established.

Prior to this I had a HH3, then a HH5 both of which were fairly solid connection-wise, particularly the HH5 - it seems that people are reverting to it as a last resort.

I cannot comment specifically on the Hub 6 as I had the 3. I have noted, however, that there have been plenty of complaints about the 5's WiFi as well, which is why I stopped using them at all.
