Yes - it's as if the modem side of things is inoperative but the router seems OK. I was still able to access my NAS drives but not the internet. On the HH6 people are reporting DHCP problems where 2 wireless devices are allocated the same IP address I haven't experienced this. I've seen many reports of people unable to access the Hub manager via ethernet
Today, when I had my disconnect I connected via cable then rebooted the router, the blue light came on but there was no internet connection. I was able to access the hub manager which showed the modem as connected to the net. When I tried to navigate to another page the connection to the router disappeared and couldn't be re-established. Prior to this I had a HH3, then a HH5 both of which were fairly solid connection-wise, particularly the HH5 - it seems that people are reverting to it as a last resort. |

To add a counter view to this, there has been a lot of success with the Smart Hub in particular in terms of where wifi previously didn't reach.
This post using a Samsung smart phone compared the BT Home Hub 5 with the BT Smart Hub at the fringe of wifi coverage: BT’s new Smart Hub makes garden WiFi 12x faster |

Just to update on previous posts - as mentioned earlier this week I installed a TP-Link router (as a note it is brilliant) using the Hub as a modem only. Since Monday I have not had a single drop out and SkyQ has been working perfectly, including all the minis.
I have been promised a call back from a BT Manager (that was last Thursday and still waiting!) and BTCare tweet people keep telling me I will get a call. Not sure when. Last night I took out the TP Link and put back the HH6 just to double check. Left it overnight. Within 30 mins this morning started to get the drop outs again. TP back in place and we are working perfectly. Some people may have a good hub - I definitely don't!! |

My HH6 seems to of died this evening, blue light was on and WiFi seemed to be working fine on some devices and then I noticed my TV which is wired saying it needs to be connected to internet and then my Sky Q box said the same which was connected via Wifi.
Rebooted the smarthub which hasn't been able to connect to the internet ever since and just remains on Orange. Have had to plug the HH5 back in for now until I can see what BT have to say when I'm able to call them next. |

My Smart hub (homehub) 6 lost internet connection on Saturday morning. I tried a reboot to no avail and ended up calling BT. After they ran checks for about 15 minutes the internet came back but they still said I wasn't connected. Following their instructions I attempted a reset but the thing just lost connection and would not reset. They're now sending me a new hub despite the fact that mine has since recovered and seems to be working just fine.
Oh well. |
