Bill Pertwee (Hodges the Warden) is related to Jon Pertwee.

Wendy Richard (Walker's girlfriend) appeared in Dimensions In Time in 1993.

Carmen Silvera (Mainwaring's infatuation in Mum's Army) appeared in The Celestial Toymaker and Invasion Of The Dinosaurs.

Can't think of anymore...

And Jon Pertwee was, iirc, appearing on Broadway at the time when he was offered the part of Captain Mainwwaring and turned it down. I think he was, in retrospect, a tad annoyed he'd turned it down and didn't know it would be the hit it turned out to be. That said, he'd never have been the Doctor if that had happened.

Alan Tilvern who played Forester in Planet Of Giants appeared twice in Dad's Army, firstly as a Spanish captain and secondly as an American colonel

I really can't imagine Pertwee in that part. Apart from anything else, the fact that Arthur Lowe is shorter and fatter than John le Mesurier adds to his chipiness!

One of Philip Madoc's appearances in DW was as Eelek in The Krotons, one of the other main chraracters in that story was Selris, leader of the Gonds. The actor who played him was James Copeland who played a Scottish army officer in the first episode of the second series of Dad's Army

I think when Pertwee was offered the part the Captain role was more like the Sgt Wilson role which makes sense. I think they decided later to switch the characters so that the lower class Mainwaring was in charge of Wilson as it'd be more amusing.

If I could cast the Doctor actors in Dad's army roles, I'd have:

Troughton: Mainwaring
Pertwee: Wilson
McCoy: Jones
Hartnell: Frazer
Tom Baker: Godfrey
Tennant: Walker
Smith: Pike
Colin Baker: Hodges

Clive Dunn wore William Hartnell's First Doctor costume playing a Doctor in this 7 minute sci-fi comedy skit in the BBC comedy show 'It's a Square World'. Perhaps the very first DW skit on television.

It can be viewed here via DailyMotion >>

So was George Roubicek (Captain Hopper in Tomb of the Cybermen)

Pamela Cundell (Mrs Fox) was married to Bill Fraser (General Grugger in Meglos and Commander Pollock in K9 and Company)

I'd have to swap some of those! McCoy is a must for Frazer due to his Scottish rrrrr-ing. Hartnell should be Godfrey as he'd need to sit things out. I also think I'd prefer Colin Baker as Mainwaring. He has the right amount of pomposity!

They really should have had him play a Warden in Victory of the Daleks, shouting "Put that light out!!".
