Guess some people will be pleased, hopefully the next EP will keep the surprises but not have DTC's total disregard for the history of the show. I wonder if DTC will be around to finish the Gavin plot and Peggy's death.

He's been brilliant at times, and while not so much in some storylines, the show has come a long way since the days of Lorraine Newman.

Don't know much about the new EP, did hear a lot of complaints about The Archers getting too soapy, not sure if that's good or bad?! |

Doesnt seem to have been a snap decision seeing as they already have announced his successor
Taking over from Dominic at EastEnders will be Sean O’Connor, who is currently the Editor of the world’s longest running soap opera, The Archers, which celebrated its 65th anniversary in January 2016. |

Good luck DTC he has been a great producer in my eyes. Some highs and lows. Hopefully the new man carries on from this. And doesn't Axe too many Characters

If Sean O'Connors previous work on the show is something to go by then I'm very happy 😃

Gutted to see him go, he's revived the show in spectacular fashion. I'll remain reserved about Sean O'Connor, he has a long history with EastEnders as story producer in the early 2000s, so he knows his stuff, but as the man in the top job, I have only to judge his very brief Family Affairs tenure which doesn't bring me any confidence.
I don't know, they say he was instrumental in story lining Kat and Zoe, so let's give him a shot. |

Oh well. At One point I would have said this was a disaster but I think he's done all he can. Although I haven't enjoyed the show as much lately I can't fault the work he did up until EE Live. And some good stuff over the New Year. I think it was probably time for a bit of a shake up

Great news to start the day off with he's finally leaving
![]() Seems like he's been pushed to leave producers normally stay for three years maximum. |

Not gutted about this, his tenure has been largely average at best for me. Too many dragged out plots.
Wish him all the best though, and good luck to Sean. |

Right so DTC said he's final days are filming Peggy death which will air in May so DTC is leaving in the April then. So by the time we said to see Sean work properly would it be about September time?

"Sean will be returning to EastEnders after an eleven year gap, having previously worked on the programme as director, producer and story producer. He story-lined the award winning Kat and Zoe Slater story, the domestic violence storyline between Little Mo and Trevor as well as the courtship of Dot Cotton and Jim Branning." Sounds good. The Little Mo and Trevor storyline was very well done. So was the Kat and Zoe storyline. To be honest I'm kind of glad DTC is stepping down. The block storylining was so annoying and hopefully Sean O'Connor will have a better style. I'd also like to see the stories shared out more equally instead of someone putting most of the focus on their personal favourites like DTC did with the Mitchells and the Carters. I have a feeling there will be a shake up in the Vic and someone else will take over the pub. I'd like to see Janine as landlady. In fact I'd love to see Janine as landlady. The Carters have fizzled out. |
