My prediction when DTC steps down (based on past comments)

June 2017 - you can't slate the show, it's still DTC's work. SOC's work isn't even on screen yet

June 2018 - you can't slate the show, it's still DTC's work. SOC's work isn't even on screen yet

June 2019 - come on guys give SOC a chance his work has only just started and he is still finishing of DTC's storyline.

It's the same every time a new EP takes over

Not pointless at all

This forum used to have some great insightful threads.

Nowadays, it's flooded with pointless, attention seeking crap like this.

If it's DTC's crappy work, all the more reason to slate it.

Well ive missed them. There are storylines that started under DTCs reign which are still ongoing but the episodes we are seeing now would be completely SOCs work.

It's so SOC's work - he has a grimly distinctive style, pastoral and un-dramatic, comedic even. That time they had the sofa in the street for the whole episode, I genuinely felt as if I was watching a very slow and yawny play at the theatre.

You were right?

All I can see is pages and pages of how SOC has destroyed the show, made loyal viewers switch off and ruined EastEnders forever. The consensus is that 90% of what's currently on screen (and has been on screen for the past couple of months) is well and truly his work.

Have you also noticed how visually dull EastEnders is as well? All the other soaps have very bright, vivid palettes but EE always looks so grey. It looks (and feels) really out of date.

It doesn't give the impression of a realistic EE borough like Hackney. They should have houses with bars on the basement and first floor storeys, or at least security systems and ALL London houses have much heavier front doors. The doors on the EE houses are so flimsy the set rattles when they're open and closed.

There is also way too much bird song for the East End, but about right for Borehamwood which is just outside London and is surrounded by countryside. Under DCT there was music playing in the market which gave the Square more of an urban feel.

By pastoral I think I mean it's very naturalistic and hence quite monotonous (for me, anyway). Previously it was sometimes verging on the gothic, the amount of murders they managed to squash into that tiny square.

Interesting! With the music in the market though, you never heard that from the deathly silent houses under DTC, but you do under SOC. But that's literally the only good thing I have to say about SOC!

Naturalistic is fine as long as there is some kind of narrative story development, but there is painfully little. Gothic kind of suits EastEnders!

Well you could post in those threads instead

Even DTC started to lose the plot towards the end of his time, however i would much prefer his work than the crap being served up now.
I think hes an idiot for leaving too soon, he should have stayed right up until new year tie up some loose ends and deliver a good Christmas.

I really would be interested to hear his honest opinion on what he thinks of the show at the moment. Maybe someone should Tweet him?

Don't know the circumstances of DTC's departure though. He could've been pushed etc.

Hollyoaks is definately bright and colourful. I has the fast and exciting music with sounds Christmas-y now. Then I watched EE and could of nearly feel asleep LOL.

Completely different ways of doing Soaps.
