There's a cat stuck in my garden

What do I do? We have high fences and lots of trees etc and it's hiding between them. It isn't actually stuck, as it is moving about, but it appears very frightened (probably of my yappy little dog!). It doesn't appear to be injured, but doesn't want to leave garden. It has no collar or anything. Mr Ellis managed to pick it up, but it wriggled free and hid again.

We aren't really cat people and have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

Do you have a dog cage or crate for when you go to the vet ?
If so load it with some food & try trapping it.
What you do with the cat after is up to you.

It is probably scared of your dog.

In my experience the cat usually cones down after it believes things have been quiet and safe for a time. Unfortunately that can sometimes take a while. I had a cat up a tree in my garden (chased by my dog, then when it jumped the low fence my neighbours dog also went for it). It shot up the tree and was petrified. It was still up there when I went to bed some five or six hours later. Then in the morning it was gone.

Thank you both for the advice. We managed to get it into our dog's travel crate and took it to the vet. It was scared, but healthy. Unfortunately it was unchipped, but the vet recognised it as having been brought in by a member of the public a week ago.

We were advised to bring it home and release it somewhere near our house, which is what we have done. It's a lovely cat and completely melted my heart, despite me not really being a cat lover. I just have to hope it finds its way home now.

All's well that ends well.

It's owners will be blissfully unaware of its adventures.
