More Muslim bashing from NF. Dog whistle radio.
Must have sneezed and missed that.

Hope you're all going out to exercise your democratic rights today. As they say in Tower Hamlets - vote early, vote often.

Morning all.

Nick Ferrari tells a woman to just let children get on with being totally engrossed in their iPads. He says that when the children eventually want to talk she should pick up a Newspaper, pretend she is reading it......and just ignore them.
Nick Ferrari:
Dumbed down Radio
Dumbed down Personal Relationships.

Wasn't that call from an elderly mother who, whenever she visits her adult daughter & son in law, said that they completely ignore her in favour of looking at their iPads....

Very sad state of affairs......but NF, who I consider to be a brilliant presenter, tried his best to make light of it !

Happy Thursday to you All x

Was just after 9.30 gs.
Does anyone think that this electing of a police chief is worth the bother? Have no idea who has had the gig for Thames Valley for the last stint and if they have done a good job or not.

Yes I think you are right, I thought Nick handled it well. The poor old woman just felt excluded and Nick gave her a light-hearted solution. Some presenters would have been sighing and pontificating endlessly.

LOL

I am in Portsmouth expecting to be back this afternoon to vote. However two problems. There is put tran disruption due to a fire at Vauxhall and living in Barnet, there seems. To be a problem at polling stations. Come to think of it, I am not sure I gave had a polling card for this election.

The traffic/commuting this morning was absolutely chaotic.
If you're registered to vote, Martin, you don't need a polling card.
By the way, my car radio is doing a strange thing at the moment, where it switches from FM to AM when I get near the A3. For a while, I thought Nick suddenly had a guest presenter!

But there are extra problems in Barnet, with people being turned away from polling stations.

Oh dear. Maybe take our resident political activist's advice and go to Tower Hamlets!

No, on the A3 between Hampton Court and Richmond Park. Horrible! Beautiful morning, though, and LBC for company.

My apologies, Martin - I've only just caught up on the news about this. Weird!?

Apparently people were turning up with their polling cards but the staff had been issued with out of date lists (or somesuch) Anyway, according to Twitter, it's been sorted.

Re last weekend:

If Cristo bashes the BBC one more time, an FOI request will be submitted to DCMS on the amount of taxpayers' money being poured into commercial radio by Government for so-called public service commercials (minimum wage increases, pension changes, switching off appliances etc) which are delivered at least in their hundreds and probably thousands. To the casual observer, it could appear to be a racket.
Poor old Christo, heading for the gutter where Fanny 'I've lost the plot' Allen awaits.

Gets to the studio for 3am, goes on air at 4 till 6.30, then does the podcast and often stays around to do interviews for In Conversation

Works 6 days a week.

Part time indeed
Compared to many who do more than a 40 hour week with overtime added on top. Part timer.

That is poor.
Time we dragged our voting system into the 21st century and have online voting. Consign the pencil on a string to the museum.

Wow, that 25 year old story of revenge on the JO'B show.

The guy who was forced to lower the price of his house, at the last minute- gained illegal entry & smashed it up, after signing the final contract !!!

Not good at all and he was a policeman

It seems silly to have to go to a booth to vote when you can click/tap a vote button at home.

Well, walk all the way if you have to and turn up at Barnet anyway and refuse to leave until they've sort out their mess.

Did anyone hear his rant at Kelvin McKenzie last week re the Hillsborough inquiry? I understand emotions are running high and people have not acquitted themselves very well, but I thought it was very unprofessional. He should maybe have pointed out that the Sun and ex members should apologise but I thought he was bordering on a breakdown. I think he also implied at one point that McKenzie should be given arsenic.

Morning all.
Already voted Gurners - earlier this week by post. Have done for years. I'm hoping labour lose seats. It'll be the first time whilst in opposition since 1985 if they do and will be looked on as a bit of a disaster.

My children, surprisingly, don't have Ipads, they read books though! Imagine! And they have book cases. But isn't it a fact that they will ignore you whatever they are doing, if I try and talk to my son when he is reading he doesn't answer me straight away, so its not necessarily a modern thing. I also have selective hearing though, apparently over the years when my children start moaning about something I blank out the noise and eventually I'll hear 'Mum, Mum, are you listening'.

Be a bit of a loger day for Fanny today with those fire problems at Vauxhall. Take him ages to get back to Twickers I would have thought.
No doubt he'll update us with all the gory details tomorrow. We already had his hate list of train travel/commuters this morning and that was BEFORE it happened! Poor fanny, be losing even more of that hair he keeps lamenting the loss of.

Yes Nick Ferrari handled an awkward situation well I think. He managed both humour and empathy which Landis completely missed.

Asking the woman over and over again if she reads Newspapers (No she doesn't) , and then insisting that she must name a Newspaper just so he could make his ridiculous and depressing observations about Family Life was not a humorous diversion. It was so tedious it could have been written on parchment.
If Nick Ferrari behaves like a WUM with his own family (I will now ignore you out of spite.....Wow! Not much Empathy there..... ) surely that will come as no surprise to anyone that has heard his show.
