I shall miss Nick's jousts with Boris. Both potential new Mayors have zero charisma.
Given a choice between charisma and good policies, I prefer the latter - although the majority of the media tends to prefer the former. A combination of both would be good, but is rare.

I'm pleasantly surprised that LBC seems to be going as big on this year's London election results as they did when they were a London-only station in 2012, with coverage from City Hall from 4pm.

They could easily have bumped the coverage off to LBC London News, but it's good to see they're staying loyal to their London listeners and aren't afraid of coming across as London-centric to listeners outside the capital.

Off topic (ish)

Check out how the vote is going in your (London) area here. There's a running total on all votes counted so far.

Shame that he is going to lose his holiday cover, during the week, though

I enjoy KH's radio persona - but would prefer her doing day-time cover - or, take over for the very, very bland Shelagh

I lived in London for many a year- and am looking forward to discovering the identity of the new London mayor.

Not until tonight, though !!

Happy weekend to you all x
That's true. It will be interesting to see how KH deals with a night-time show. It seems a natural home for someone like Nick Abbot, not sure KH will be the same.

JO'B has spent an hour patronising the very ernest Corbynite callers. He has now turned to Boris !!

I doubt if he will be so gentle, this hour

This man's ego has no bounds.....JO'B not Boris

JOB sounds very disappointed that Corbyn is still safe for now. He doesn't believe the press have been at him worse than Milliband. The gutter right wing press certainly had their say about Corbyn..
The "gutter right wing press" had their say about Corbyn because he is a joke. He makes Labour unelectable, in terms of a general election. Don't worry though, the gutter left-wing press and the rest will get their chance after the referendum.

I enjoy her show but she is a bit strident for that slot. We'll have to see.

That's a nice link. Thanks gs. Looks like leafy Ealing is heading towards Labour in both votes. Always knew that the fine folk of Ealing had their heads and hearts in the right place

I can't see her in that slot either. Odd choice for late evening cover.

Almost as depressing for me as it must be for you to see the Tories on the march in Scotland.

When the Tories are the government in Scotland that's when I will worry! BTW the Tory leader in Scotland, Ruth Davidson is a highly likable and clever woman who appeals to a wide range of folk. Good choice for the Tory top job when Cameron slings his hook.

She's great. They are hoping to get her into a safe seat as we speak! She'll be the first lesbian PM!

Don't forget she is an a complied kick boxer too, don't mess with Ruth!
Just heard Andrew Castle on Sky news describe her as amother Tory blonde bombshell, only thing wrong with that is Ruth is brunette and never blonde. Typical LBC Tory nonsense

Excellent coverage and up to the minute reporting on LBC during Ian Dales gig. Must be tough for this wee Tory boy having to report on a Labour win in London, a total reversal on the school academy idea and the news that several police forces are going to court over Tory spending allegations at the GE.
Oh and now Farage is on, hark at him saying UKIP is rock solid all over the UK! Dear Nigel must have not seen the results from Scotland.

We won't see Sadiq Khan stuck on zip wire or cycling etc. He'll be a different character compared to Boris

Nick Ferrari tells a woman to just let children get on with being totally engrossed in their iPads. He says that when the children eventually want to talk she should pick up a Newspaper, pretend she is reading it......and just ignore them.
Nick Ferrari:
Dumbed down Radio
Dumbed down Personal Relationships.
I don't think Ferrari dumbed down any relationships or situations. The caller rang in to complain about her kids and Ferrari did his best to listen and ask questions and at the end, make a semi-humorous suggestion about what she could do. I actually thought it was quite a good suggestion at that!

More Muslim bashing from NF. Dog whistle radio.
It seems that any time Nick discusses Muslims on his programme, he is attacked by angry posters on this thread who claim he is "Muslim Bashing". I listened to the show. Ferrari introduced the topic, quoting from the leaflet in question, then spoke to an Imam for his view of the story. After that it was on to calls on the subject and the first caller very resolutely defended Islam. How is that "Muslim bashing"? Muslims are allowed to be criticised just the same as everyone else.

Interesting conversation between Nick Ferrari and Alisdair Roxburgh from Save the Children. Every time Nick brought up the question of security checks on the "children" he did not have an answer. All Roxburgh would say is "we need to ensure that these children have a safe environment." Another example of a person with a script and when asked something not in the script, he is stumped.

Cracking show this morning with a fair selection of views aired.
Absolutely agree Supersoul, I thought yesterday's breakfast show was one of the best in weeks. Some great calls, all good topics and Nick was on top form with his debating, gibes and opinionated asides. Vintage Ferrari 👌.

Yes I think you are right, I thought Nick handled it well. The poor old woman just felt excluded and Nick gave her a light-hearted solution. Some presenters would have been sighing and pontificating endlessly.
Exactly. Nick has a rapport with callers that other presenters just don't seem to have.

I'm very happy that Sadiq Khan has been elected Mayor of London. This is a victory for honest campaigning, for fair politics, for Muslims and for Labour. Zac Goldsmith ran a dirty, often morally repugnant campaign and tried to stir up racial prejudices in order to win. Khan didn't let that get to him and didn't try to fight back or turn it an important vote into a grudge match and the voters respected him for that. Khan's campaign was all about his ideas for London and he didn't retaliate when people tried to smear him.

This vote shows that as a country we have come very far because Khan is not just the first Muslim mayor, he is the first black Mayor, which shows that people will vote for a decent man with good ideas over a multimillionaire alleged racist, regardless of the skin colour or religion of the candidates. I believe London will have a better future with Sadiq Khan in charge.

Great post. Are 100%.
Khan received more votes than any politician in history and has a resounding mandate from London voters. I wish him every success.

I'm gutted that Sir Lord Nick Abbot has been bounced due to the goings on at City Hall.

Why on Earth does it take so long to count votes in London Mayoral Elections?
