I was not aware of that and must say that I'm amazed and rather disappointed in Mike
I can only think he must have been having an exceptionally bad night though of course that's no excuse As the old saying goes there but for the grace of God go I I've never made any secret of the fact that ten years ago after I'd helped nurse my mum through ovarian cancer ..a battle she sadly lost with the help of good friends and family I was able to stop myself going down that route as I had somewhat gone off the rails I'm NOT asking for sympathy just saying it's an easier route to go down than many realise Tell me about it that is why i thought it rather nasty Paul i have also been there with the bottle and been Alcohol dependant as i prefer to call it. |

Brilliant, Brian goes very, very quiet as a caller talks about flushing heads in the toilet, or as he calls it "bogwashing"

Steve Allen back to his chronic coughing fits this morning. Why is he such a lazy fellow that he can't be even bother to push the mute button?
I'm rather perplexed as to why he has such a legion of fans. Is it that the competition have nothing better to offer a 4a.m.? |

I didn't listen to him at all this morning, you say he was having chronic coughing fits and he said yesterday he was not feeling well. Why oh why does he attend work when he is obviously under the weather, it cannot be for the money

Over on BBC London Paul Ross has this slot, he is interesting (talks a bit too quickly perhaps), quite entertaining and TAKES CALLS, however I don't think his listening figures are anything like Steve's so perhaps it's a case of Steve's fans just being loyal? I've never been a fan but have to confess I listen a couple of times every week from 6.00am for the last half-hour. If nothing else he certainly manages to get my attention at such an early hour, it is of course mostly drivel and Steve talking "me me me & me" but as they say "what else is new" - if people choose to tune in to Steve Allen have to know what they will be getting.

I really must listen to this Steve Allen guy one day. His show from what I read on here sounds like some old theatre guy having a good old moan about whatever pops into his head. If that's the case then he is doing what lots of folk do anyway. Will listen soon and know for myself.

I imagine he's a bit of a novelty if you've never heard him before. The fascination after prolonged exposure is marvelling at how many times he can get away with repeating the same old same old. We had his mum's curries (with the lazy susan on the table, containing bananas, peanuts and cucumber) this morning!

First question. What the what is a lazy Susan?
Morning. ![]() I confess to not knowing until a few years ago when my brother asked for it for christmas present. It is a round thing which holds a number of dishes of food that sits on the table, and you revolve it around until it comes up with the one(s) that you want. I expect our hosts and hostesses here will explain it better

For example, the other day somebody mentioned Queen ie Watts and I thought that was an Eastenders character! Can be an education of sorts on this thread! |

I was flipping between Paul Ross and Steve Allen this morning and confess I did enjoy his banter with his callers regarding the explosion of secuirty cameras in London over the past 10 years. A pity he is moving over to TalkRadio next month as I think he could give Allen a real challenge with his phone-in show (at least in London and the SE).
For those who haven't heard Steve Allen before, in a nutshell, he basically talks about celebritydom for 2 1/2 hours most of which are stories plucked from that morning's tabloids, He'll talk about simple anedotes like his life in Twickenham, his commute to and from work, food, reality tv and a general bitch-fest of all those celebrities he doesn't like. Top of the list being Cheryl Fernandez Versini who, for some reason, he calls 'Spagbol'. Oops, I forgot to mention he likes to talk about his diabetes. |

Awful radio from Brian. He said he wasn't going to discuss immigration but then went on one of his hypocritical rants about immigration with a pointless dig at Farage. 10.28am and he has said "discombobulated".

Brian is talking about being a "pompous radio presenter". He's obsessed with people blaming everything on foreign aid and immigration. It's utterly absurd.

Thought provoking radio in the first hour from JOB. Subject was the cost of care for the elerly and this could be very worrying and financially crippling for a growing number of people as the population lives longer and the number of those needing care rises sharply.

Brian was in KFC at a service station at the weekend. I would imagine it was for a "treat". He's criticising a man for buying chicken in KFC while he himself was in the queue to buy chicken at KFC. Hypocritical as always.

James saw a man buying fried chicken and was so concerned about the quantity purchased that he followed the man back to his car to see if he was getting it for anyone as well as himself.
