Sorry to hear Natalie Bennett is stepping down as leader of the Greens. She's always good for a giggle even when she hasn't got a cold!
Her career as leader of the Greens was damaged to say the least by that car crash interview with Nick Ferrari. He demonstrated what a quick witted and skillful presenter he is yet again that day.

Listening to Iain Dale this afternoon, the spectrum of intelligence levels possessed by callers during the 4pm hour was astonishing.

On the topic of whether we should impeach Tony Blair for war crimes after the Iraq war, we had one woman called Layla, I believe, ranting on about the 'trillions and trillions' of dollars accumulated by Bush and Blair after the conflict for their own personal gain and later on we got a call by a practicing barrister explaining in clear and concise terms why impeachment or even prosecution would be challenging and unlikely.

All human life exists in LBC's audience profile including some right lunatics and nutcases.

That's what I like about it!

Thanks to what happened, that was one interview of NF's that I actually heard when it was re-played again and again. I'm not sure Nick displayed much skill or quick wit. It was an open goal that even the slowest presenter could hardly have missed. Or that's how it felt to me, anyhow.

The interview isn't repeated in order to display Nick's skills as an interviewer but to demonstrate her incompetence as an interviewee. He wasn't hostile, nor did he ask her anything tricky. She simply made a complete Horlicks of answering a simple question.

Perhaps it's possible? It works out to [very roughly] £10,000 a week for six shows and one In Conversation, Steve is a freelance employee so it's just his fees that are paid to him, therefore no pension, no health insurance, no expense account and any other "perk" of a salaried employee. Just my take of course.
No sick pay either.

Not sure I believe it though. We had a discussion on here a couple of years ago re. LBC salaries. A poster on here who had contacts in the industry reckoned Ferrari was their top earner on c.430K. I think Brian was second on about 300k (it added to a certain person's champagne socialist ascertations as I recall); and Fanny third on about 150k. The Whale was a big earner too when he had the drive time show. We were never quite sure whether to believe it or not but it could have been true. That poster was the type who might actually have been privvy to the truth.

Ms Bennett's career was so badly damaged by the interview that she lead the Green Party to their best ever general election result shortly afterwards.

I thought that was more down to disillusioned Lefties unable to bring themselves to vote Tory or UKIP, so voting Green.

Knowing when to say little and letting someone make a mistake is a skill for a radio presenter. Imagine if a more egotistical and "me,me me" presenter had been in this situation such as James O'Brien. If he had rushed in with a monologue to prove how clever he thinks he is the opportunituy would very likely have disappeared and in sporting terms the ball would have been fumbled and then dropped

So you think NF isn`t an egotistical presenter...? Must be an entirely different man to the Nick Ferrari that I used to hear, then.

Mayor Khan will be appearing on LBC once a month for Speak to Sadiq. Times are going to vary as he will be on with various daytime presenters.
First to host the new Mayor will be JOB.

Good to know, BR - thank you.
By the way, I met Sadiq a few weeks ago. Very modest and friendly chap. I hope he makes a good Mayor.

Let's hope J O'B will be fitted out with a snorkel, because we know where his head's going to be!

Morning all.

On the other hand it is good to see that Mayor Khan is going to deal with various presenters and not opt for the easy option like the last Mayor did.

They probably suggested once a month with Ferrari and, when they'd revived SK, negotiated it to once every four months!

I see it as an extension of a mayor for all philosophy that gave Khan the biggest vote ever!
Be interesting to compare NF and how he is towards Khan compared to Boris.

Did he mention (or did you know) that he was brought up on a Council Estate?

BTW Did you also know that the odds against Leicester City winning the Premier League was 5000/1 ?

Probably the same - won't let him complete a sentence.

Indeed, Martin (as Lisa Aziz might say), but no - he didn't need to mention such things, nor his father's job!
Any other betting tips gladly accepted, but they do need to be made before the event!

For those who thought that the EU and related topics might feature less on LBC after the referendum may be in for a nasty shock.
Seems like Farage who never tires of telling us how undemocratic the EU is now seems to disregard a democratic vote.

Is he due on this week with NF?

My house was bought by the council - I think it was part of a slum clearance programme
