Much as I love you I have to disagree CC. Steve is a nasty little insecure man who is a rabid right winger and considers all those relying on Social Security as scroungers and still thinks you can walk into a Jobcentre or a shop and get a job straightaway (something we haven't had since Maggie in the 1980's). His whole schtick is to repeat old anedotes endlessly and to talk about his sit down shower habits. I haven't listened to his show in ages. What is wrong with being nice and compassionate?

Sadiq Khan is managing to stay calm and not embarrass himself this time on LBC. I mainly tuned in to see if he would make car crash radio like he did on the mayoral debate.

Oh well, still some time to go before the end...

Sadiq Khan is preaching to the converted with James O'Brien and the LBC Usherwood political editor......its a shame because you would want at least an objective interview with the Mayor and not just a love in which we seemed to get.....

The talk between O'Brien and Usherwood afterwards about how great Kahn was is bad journalism, even if you support the person your interviewing you need to take a neutral view, and put opposing points something clearly the fawning O'Brien failed to do.

I will also congratulate Steve on his award. He gives me hours of listening pleasure and never fails to cheer me up.

He does seem to have a lot of love and respect from his peers and that speaks volumes I think.

Big respect he made it to his show today (and I think he is doing 2 In Conversations this morning). Any other person would have taken the day off.

Yes he is a great interviewer and an amazing sense of humour, if I wake up in the night I would put the radio on to listen to him ...... I can think of no one else I would do that for.

I've not noticed Usherwood or O'Brien being pro Corbyn, and I've thought for a while Usherwood has been softer on Conservatives than Labour.

But I agree he got an easy ride. As was discussed after the interview, he has only been in power 2 weeks, so doesn't have much of a record to defend. Maybe things will get more interesting as time goes on.

I know what you mean GS.

I think it was Petrie that said she had spent 48 hours in Brussels once were they discussed nothing but what to name a fish or something ridiculous.

This is the kind of nonsense which is an expensive waste of money.

So, whilst Boris may be factually wrong in that you can't buy less than 3 bananas , they obviously have to be displayed/presented a certain way.

Didn't they try and make bananas straight at one time ?

Fairly gentle introduction for Mayor Sadiq. Am sure it will be more challenging for him with a different presenter and a record in office to be examined.

Am not disagreeing with everything else you say Peachy but wild horses (and wild everything else) would not have dragged Steve away from his show this morning, he had a wonderful time, slight false modesty on his behalf, which on this happy occasion I will overlook
[Steve's award even got a mention by Duncan Barkes on his show on BBC London last night]

Steve was congratulated and praised by JO'B earlier.

If that is correct, it is obviously what people want to listen to.

'Nice and compassionate' would be relatively boring. You have to be a little controversial to interest listeners.

(PS G-S I think I may also be on his 'ignore' list, since his political party lost the last General Election).

Steve is the radio equivalent of the TV's "Chatty Man" but without the clowning around.

Possibly not boring to the people the niceness and compassion is being aimed at. But, of course, they don't matter, do they?

Recent comments by Ken Livingstone, David Cameron, Boris Johnson prove being controversial keeps people talking about them and their comments.

I'm not sure about people talking about them, but it certainly works for the media, including LBC.

What about just building some homes that are actually occupied. (At least that vacates another home for someone). This challenge is a nightmare for the new Mayor (I hope he can live up to the challenge) but he can hardly do any worse. Can he?

I wonder how social historians will judge this period 100 years from now? Thousands of apartments have been built in London. But not to live in. They are just containers. A box shaped commodity. The Construction Industry might just as well have built large tanks of Chateau Pavie Wine that the current owner will never taste or take any interest in.
House builders building houses that no one lives in during a Housing Crisis.

This is Mind Blowing.

When is Cameron due on Ian Dale? Have they said who will be on from Brexit because they have a ton of questions to answer.
For example, how much will the UK pay for single market access? Norway pays 450 million euros so it would be good to have an idea of the cost.

I thought it was yesterday but Iain's tweeted it's tomorrow. On his current form, Cameron's nose will have grown so long by the end of the show, he won't be able to get near the mic.

Tuned in today and wee Eck is on. He really is an acomplished performer on the radio and TV. Hope he can get something sorted for the Aussie caller.

Its a mirror image of the Boris- Nick Ferrari stuff. An easy ride in both aspects.
