Brian has just said that the people who don't like him are "racists and homophobes". I don't entirely agree. I don't like him because he is a hypocritical and laughably pompous champagne socialist.
Brian is in the RACISM! business. Brian rattled by Facebook comments made by our very own Jonnie from Brixton. Keep on keeping on. |

Thought provoking radio in the first hour from JOB. Subject was the cost of care for the elerly and this could be very worrying and financially crippling for a growing number of people as the population lives longer and the number of those needing care rises sharply.
The allowance I get for doing it may be pitifully small and nothing like linked to the cost of living But to me everyday he's with us is a bonus and after everything my parents gave up and did for me and my siblings the very least I can do As you say thought provoking radio and why I can't see James going anywhere soon LBC have a safe pair of hands there |

I'm a full time carer for my dad and I've been told by one of the medical staff who come out to see us that by doing so I save social services many thousands of pounds per year

Did you hear Nick Ferarri talking about giving pregnant women 3k of vouchers to pay for the birth? This is the first step towards the closure of maternity wards in the NHS and childbirth will be solely in the private sector. Next step will be the reduction in the amount of vouchers. Worrying times for anyone who believes in the founding principles of our NHS.
Historically, both right and left have agreed that giving people personal budgets was a good thing, albeit perhaps for different reasons. |

Not necessarily. The idea of Personal Health Budgets (PHB's) is an extension of Personal (Social Care) Budgets, which disabled people campaigned for over many years, to give choice and control and a personalised service. PHB's are currently only available for people on a particular funding stream, but the direction of travel is to ask health authorities to widen that offer.

My sisters best friend is a sister in a maternity ward at St Mary's Manchester and she foretold this very scenario a good ten years ago The founding principles were as you well know care from the cradle to the grave The likes of BUPA must be wetting themselves in anticipation With our regular visits to hospital the last few months I've seen first hand how tightly controlled costs have become It's now at the stage it only takes one person to ring in sick and things collapse We attended a clinic where the receptionist had taken ill There wasn't anybody to step in as they'd had to cut a couple of posts It was left to the specialists and the nurses to man the desk and phones as well as treat patients They did it with good humour even though they must have been at breaking point God knows how they cope from day to day |

Brian likes to portray himself as a member of the lefty-wefty, all-encompassing, non-judgemental brigade, but when a male caller told him (after being asked by Brian) that he was not wearing any trousers, Brian gave a reaction which made it obvious that he was outraged and disapproving. Why is he prejudiced against men who are not wearing trousers?
Mind you, he then went on to make a sarcastic comment about Foggerty's looks, so kudos to him for that. |

If there are going to be problems, the chances are that you will know in advance and you would be taken to hospital. Clearly, there is a lot of money to be saved in this area and probably others too. Why on earth would you need £3k to give birth? |

He mentioned about the fact that the studios now have high definition cameras in them. He tried to be self-deprecating about his own appearance and of course he does look a bit of a wally and that is multiplied many-fold by the fact that he wears his cans over only one ear. He then said something along the lines of the situation being ideal for Foggerty because she is so beautiful.
LOL at Socialist Shelagh trying to pretend that she is unsure on which way she will vote in the EU referendum. Today's show is so boring that Shelagh is going to have another one of her famous on air naps during the next hour. |

Poor old Brian. He does like making disparaging comments about the appearance of others - Fish Face Farage, piggy eyed Boris etc.

Another intellectual heavyweight supports you-know-what : http://m.huffpost.com/uk/entry/9297112?1456231410
How surprising. Has he ever appeared on LBC? I recall him being on the James Whale show once on Talksport. |

The vouchers are to pay for pre natal care as well as the birth and any postal natal care needed.

Did you take the kids to KFC (just as a treat)? Or did you opt for foie gras instead? Maybe even some buttered parsnips?

Shall we run a charity sweepstake to guess how many times Sister Superior Shelagh of the parish of Widdecombe says "NHS" or "hospital" each week?

SS has glammed up for her LBC promo pic. Got rid of that dreadful sloppy jumper and got a new 'do'. I doubt she bothers much when she's just going to the studios every day though, straight from Confession and a visit to her GP. Especially if James OB is the only person to impress.
Love_You The NHS in England is to offer pregnant women their own "personal budgets" worth 3,000 pounds - is this going to help? Socialist Shelagh can't stop talking about the NHS. It's a 2nd religion to her. She is utterly steeped in the NHS. Obsessed. Is there a medical term for someone so completely consumed by a fascination for the NHS? Will Shelagh start hanging around in GPs waiting rooms and hospital x-ray departments to get her kicks? This is even worse than when Jeni Borenet spent endless hours talking to a doula every week. |
