Bev is in for Clive next week. I'm sure I heard Steve say he would be in The Mall over the weekend. I assumed he'd be reporting on the street party tomorrow but it's not listed. Or was he there this afternoon?

So, was it interesting? What was the conclusion

I can't get any recent podcasts apart from Andrew Castle, who I had listened to anyway. No Andrew Pierce from last or Mellor and Crick this morning. They lose their point if they don't appear reasonably soon after the event.

Heard a bit of Dickie Spurrrr (in for Cristo) last night and thought he was sounding OK. He is there again tonight but talking mostly about the football hooliganism which is a bit boring. Meanwhile over on BBC Radio London it's former LBC presenter The Preeve who I find rather dull sorry to say.

A caller to Nick Abbot tonight was identified as Rick Yune and I really do think it was the Korean-American actor who was in Olympus Has Fallen and The Fast and the Furious. He sounded really stoned. He said something stupid like "The British are a beautiful people," Nick mocked him for a few moments and then cut him off. Too bad. I do think he was the real deal. Just watched a YouTube interview with him and it certainly sounded like him. He's probably in the UK doing a film.

It seems there's nothing like a referendum for bringing old dinosaur politicians out of the woodwork. Paddy Ashdown doing the papers with Andrew; reminds me of why I always despised him.

I enjoy Andrew's show. He's affable, balanced and reasonably well-informed.

Morning all.

Good morning gs.

I thought it was just me! PA came over as patronising and seemingly living in his own ideal EU world.

Me too. Could never understand the adoration of PA.
I read on another thread on DS that he is totally obsessed with Putin. Sure enough, I switched off mentally from listening, when I tuned back in,...Putin!

Bib...... You don't suppose he has forked out £150 to hobnob with the toffs, do you?
I understand that's how much each ticket for HM's street party costs.

No, he's tweeting pictures and he's wearing a press pass. He's managed to get his chubby hands on a hamper!

Big celebration going on at Brinsworth House. SA must have been torn as to which event to attend!

Methinks the quality of the hamper may have played a part in the decision-making process?

Is Steve now housed at Brinsworth?

Steve Allen's been at The Mall. Someone on the LBC facebook page posted a video of SA doing a commentary on the situation, and the dark glasses he's wearing.

There's another one with Mildrid Pearce at the Queen's lunch parade in a silly hat.

PA was one of the most successful leaders the LIb Dems ever had. The party thrived under his leadership. He knows and understands international politics and military matters a whole lot better than most MPs. I don't agree with his love for the EU, but apart from that he's pretty clued up about most things, (he can speak 6 languages including Mandarin) and way more knowing than 'call me Dave' or 'Gideon' ever will be..

Hear hear. I find it quite ridiculous when a person over a certain age and with a vast amount of experience is dismissed as 'wheeling out an old dinosaur.'
Paddy Ashdown was debunking many myths this morning regarding our relationship with the EU, but any comments I've read subsequently have only seemed to care about the way he speaks, rather than what he has to say.
I have to add that if we do vote 'Brexit' this will be used as an excuse for cuts in many areas of our society, just as 'austerity' has been, along with blaming New Labour for the latter. Brexit is an out-and-out con trick, which substantial sections of the British public appear to be falling for.

So consequently you must be accepting as absolutely truthful every word that Cameron and Osborne have uttered on EU Membership over the past fortnight

Certainly not every word. I rely mostly on my own independent research.
As Frank mentioned above, the point is that the likes of Cameron and Osborne have far less knowledge and experience than someone like Paddy Ashdown who, in my opinion, should be listened to and treated with respect.

Oh yes....Paddy Ashdown. The man of so much knowledge and experience who claimed that the 2015 GE Exit Poll was wrong. So wrong in fact that if it proved to be accurate he'd eat his hat.

You can focus on an isolated incident, or you could broaden your outlook:

It's up to you.

Still don't like him! If it's any consolation, I think David Owen was the best (Labour) Prime Minister we never had.

That was a fascinating call.

It sure did sound like Yune & I am of the opinion that it was him too.

Nick must not have known (or cared) that he was talking to a moderately famous Hollywood actor, as he treated the caller to his usual sneering & mickey taking that he does.
