Nick Abbot whingeing and sneering about other people's salaries again. I imagine he gets paid far more per hour for doing so than the majority of those whom he despises. Certainly more than the MPs, who are his current targets. Click off. - again.

This whole LBC thread has degenerated into a rather nasty feud, mostly relating to one presenter. It's like chemical reaction.. IE. There is a catalyst.??? Most of the conversation on here has no, or very little relation to what is broadcast on LBC. Anyone who dares to disagree with the clique is very quickly told to go forth and multiply. No other thread on DS is so cliquey.

Perhaps BBC Brian's going to apply for Tony Blackburn's old job on Pick Of The Pops next. Does Brian do DJ-ing?
Hi Nosedive, thanks for the idea of James O'Brien as a DJ which made me smile . Can you imagine people listening in wondering why the music charts now start with a 15 minute monologue? Then being more confused by the frequent references to number 44 in the top twenty!

Natalie Bennett, who was talking to Pierce seems a bit unhinged/deluded.

I didn't hear much of James OB last week but read here that his wife was on the show again. He's either talking about her on air or she's phoning in, it would seem. Talk about over-exposure to the OB clan!

I can't think of another presenter (apart from Allen, whose behaviour is so bizarre that he is to be disregarded) who does this to the same extent as James.

Anyway, seeing as James keeps talking about his wife I might pop off to YouTube and see if there are any new vids! It's a shame root vegetables are going out of season...

I've no problem with Fanny............ as he showed by his repeated assertions that BBC management had acted like "girls", big girls blouses" and "wear dresses". He is a complete fool.
Yet you still listen to the show.

I've no problem with Fanny feeling sorry for TB and even suggesting that he has been treated harshly. In truth there may have been an ulterior motive to the BBC taking the view that the shortcomings in the evidence that TB gave to the enquiry justified him being sacked.

However, Allen chose to imply that it had been because TB was unfairly assumed to be guilty of the assault that he had been accused of many years ago, hence his constant bleating that "he hasn't even been charged with anything". That was bad enough but to then go on a rant about the child that had made that accusation and had ultimately committed suicide; suggesting that she was at fault for looking older than her actual age, that her parents were at fault for not controlling her behaviour and that they should publish her diaries to prove that she had mental health issues was totally unforgivable.

I was also not surprised that he exploited the opportunity to lambast the BBC to the full. I don't know if it is LBC policy but they wouldn't be the only media organisation to consider their biggest competitor to be the "great satan". Unfortunately Fanny is totally unable to do so within the bounds of any pretence at taste or reason as he showed by his repeated assertions that BBC management had acted like "girls", big girls blouses" and "wear dresses". He is a complete fool.
Yet you still listen to the show.
Abhorrent behaviour does not stop being abhorrent behaviour simply because I haven't witnessed it. If I hear Fanny making a fool of himself then I am going to comment on it here.

My last word on this subject. I don't know if the podcast of Friday's show ever went up but there was absolutely no trace of it in the "Best Of" show this morning. Strange - unless someone at LBC also thought that he had overstepped the mark. Pity that nobody had the gumption to stop him while he was live.

I heard the second hour and didn't notice it. He had a ten-minute rant about Australia which was incredibly rude, including a very bad impression of an Ozzie accent!

Lol, thanks redvers. Although I only really meant my original post in jest I'm not so sure it's so daft as it sounds. Fanny Allen often tells us of how he started out as a DJ before going into speach radio so you never know.

Might get a lot of Leonard Cohen tracks played from over the years too. Brian idolises Leonard Cohen.

Every track Brian played from the eighties would remind Brian of his stories from his days in public school being chastised by monks and bogwashed by the school bullies.
I'm sure I've heard him say he was very much into the rave scene. Although I'm not sure how that goes with his passion for Aha. He almost fainted with excitement when he had Morten and the boys in the studio!

Blimey, it always amazes me how so many posters (the fannies as I call them) get wound up by someone's radio act.

Maybe James O'Brien's first track would be some cool jazz from Thelonious Monk?

She seems to be getting worse, the more Andrew Pierce probed, the more confused she became.

I thought that he was amusing. NA's salary is not paid by the tax- payer. As usual, current political topics, interspersed with his brand of humour.

He is the only presenter who, regularly, mentions the MP's discounted booze. What's that all about

From the the background sounds, during PMQ's, they seem to have made full use of their subsidised bars !!!!

I switched on prior to Nick's show & heard an awful shrieking female voice. Was that Kate Hoey ? I think that I prefer Lucy Beresford

Happy Weekend, All x

Some boring trivia for you. Tradition is that no taxes can be collected within a Royal Palace so that is why our MPS can fill up on untaxed booze.

Nicks salary is irrelevant as it from a private company. Global could pay him a million pounds a show if they wanted to it would have no bearing on me whatsoever. MP's having another pay rise and the introduction of more cronies into the Lords however ...

Wow Nick Abbot has them all out of the woodwork tonight. Mark in Liverpool followed by Johnathan from Swansea (now Liverpool).
Still no Doris from Ongar though

Has she popped up elsewhere?

Should we come up with potential theme tunes for the LBC presenters?

Anything by Hot Gossip for Steve Allen? Or just 'Staying Alive', given all his health problems?

I've only been listening to LBC for the past 3 months since I got a car with DAB built in (I don't live in London) Having said that I have listened to Steve Allens podcasts for a long time.

This thread makes me laugh, my two favourite presenters are Steve Allen and James O'Brien, and these two seem to get the most abuse here. The best always seem to divide opinion though don't they.

Mystery hour is the best hour of radio period.

I want to start listening to Nick Abbot but haven't yet.

Shelagh Foggarty is a total bore in my opinion, she sticks out like a sore thumb on the schedule.

Just my two cents.

Easy do dish out abuse anonymously from behind a computer when you've nothing else to do all day but listen to shows hosted by presenters you don't seem to like.

The theme tune for James O'Brien should be The Sun Always Shines On TV by the band he has a crush on Aha.
