I am not interested in Nikki Bedi's slot as she sounds a bit like a limp lettuce. I want more gusto in the morning.

No, not all. Really find her patronising, and she is obviously not trying to be, so it makes it worse. I take it Paul Ross is going to one of the new talk stations?

Tom Swarbrick seems to have got himself a nice gig, following Trump around the US.

Morning all.

I'm fine with him slagging out "celebs", not interested in the least but if it makes him happy and all that. It's when he has to delve into serious news matters and makes light of such issues, usually slinging insults around about the victims, implying it's most their fault. What happened on Top of The Pops in the 70s is a typical example.

He deserves a cushy number after having to wade around the camp in Calais. Think it is Georgia today and then down to Florida tomorrow. Mind you it sounds great but he has to listen to and report on the ravings of the Donald so it's not all gravy for Tom.

Theo Usherwood off to the North of Ireland with Boris to report on some new buses. Think all in all Tom got the better deal.

I, often, switch on early for Nick A....I enjoy the handover patter. Nothing, last week, unfortunately

There are probably some windups/ genuine 'problems' & others who may well like to talk 'dirty' to a woman. Lucy always sounds very detached & clinical, though

Each to their own- but I couldn't stomach 2 hours of it. It seems a bit Incongruous for LBC

Happy Leap Year Monday. Any ladies out there planning to propose ( marriage !!) today ?

The topic would make for a light-hearted hour. I wonder if any of the presenters are up for it...........JO'B ???

North of Palm Beach I believe, probably boring everyone at the Country Club with stories of how the UK is unrecognisable, full of foreigners etc etc

Yes nice work if you can get it Meanwhile Nick Ferrari is in really good form these days and sets the LBC day off in good shape.

Really enjoyed JOB this morning. First two hours full of light heartedness and humour, the third, a little more serious, (the big model girl) still had funny moments.

Just heard the first hour and I thought he got the tone just about right. That could have got rather messy in the wrong hands. Some of the callers were really good, interesting examples and what struck me was the sense of humour and perspective they maintained. If I had been treated as some of those callers had I think I would have been extremely angry but I will never know for sure as I am white and will never be in that situation.
Very good radio.

I didn't hear the third hour but, yes, the first two were excellent. I particularly enjoyed the calls from the 70-plusses, who were still enjoying life.

I wonder if there's been a slight change of policy at Global Towers, with less emphasis on hard news. James mentioned something to the effect that he didn't always do heavy news stories.

I was surprised this morning when I heard the 7am bulletin to hear the top story was the Oscars. I thought there must be something more important than that. When I had breakfast, I was watching BBC News and Sky News and both of them were leading on the Oscars

I only heard the last two hours of James' programme & enjoyed both. The first was interesting & the second was sufficiently light-hearted.

'Twas Sheila who did the Leap year proposal topic & she has never been married !!

She mentioned that she was enjoying herself, though. It's a shame for her and us that she is not given more 'fun' time.

There is definitely something afoot topic wise.

Thats why NA has been so good recently. His topics have been all over the place and not just politics. More like his old shows.

Even Shelagh has had a dabble in topics such as pocket money for kids.

I find it a huge improvement.

The new talkRADIO starting in March could possibly have influenced Global. Isn't it supposed to be more of a magazine format?

It would be stupid for Global to be worried about Talk Radio. LBC is on FM in Greater London, has made national news, and has been available nationally for a long time on digital television, on the national DAB digital radio multiplex and before that on regional multiplexes. Tjalk Radio is starting from nothing and hoping people will discover it.

Not good business to ignore a new rival. The new talk radio is being promoted on Talksport and will grow because there is a gap in the market for a new talk station in the UK.

Just because there isn't a light talk radio station doesn't mean there is a gap in the market. The last two talk radio stations launched in the UK have failed.

Very true. And particularly relevant seeing the number of posts here over the last couple of days. Tumbleweed! Has everyone defected to the new forum?

Never heard of it, but if it's on Twitter I wouldn't have. I think this thread has recently come down to some people getting defensive about other people's views, rather than just discussion and it usually leads to getting personal or OT or both.

As for 'light' subjects, I'm probably the only one who gets bored silly with selective childbirth, pocket money or women proposing on 29 February. I don't particularly want heavy political stuff all the time but that sort of thing just does nothing for me at all.
