It's the timing of it that I am questioning. Corbyn basing has been done to death on LBC and right now there are politicians and issues much more in need of scrutiny than Corbyn. Nothing new to say now about him than has been said already and often on LBC.

Maybe he booked a holiday, and Tom Swarbrick took over for a few days.
Usually the schedule updates "a bit" later...

I don't think LBC have too much to be concerned about with the new Talk Radio. There is a list of their programmes so far. A number of ex-LBC presenters there, including Jon Holmes. I notice Eamon Holmes is doing an 'In Conversation' type programme. I wonder if it will be as good as Steve's ?

I will., of course, dip in and have a listen. Unfortunately our chief monitor is no longer around

LBC only has competition from Talk Radio 3 hours a weekday, unless Talk Radio's sex and relationships show clashes with LBC's.

Of course it will be better. At least Eamon will be talking about the person he's having a conversation with, rather than launching into a self profile, while the guest sits there nodding his/her head.

Must be paying decent money to get Eamon Holmes.

Do they just talk about sport on Talk Sport? I remember the days when sport was only about 40% of the output. The rest were just normal phone-ins. Great days when Tommy Boyd was there.

Same planet as you. I hope.

I was thinking that Talk Sport had gone back to his previous' anything goes' policy, but you have just told me, nope.

Funny time to start. Programmes tend to start at the top of the hour

Thanks for that g-s.

Also from their website:

Quote:
“talkRADIO will broadcast a number of specialist magazine shows at the weekend, with topics covered including property, motoring, consumer affairs, comedy, sex and relationships, and the paranormal.”

I think that sounds very promising (and I am really looking forward to hearing Bob Mills on the radio - I reckon that could be a very good show). Jon Holmes is hit and miss for me, but I'll give him a go. And I see both BBC London breakfast presenters have found a home there - Paul Ross and Penny Smith. The only downside seems to be Saturday nights, which I guess will simulcast with talkSPORT. I wanted something to listen to instead of Lucy Beresford!!!

It sounds more fun that LBC and I reckon they could well steal quite a few listeners. I think my listening would be something like:

Vanessa on BBC London
JOB on LBC
Jon Holmes on TR
I don't know Sam Delaney or Jonny Gould, so I'll give them a go and see if they beat Iain Dale and Clive Bull on LBC
If Iain Lee does proper chat (his BBC persona rather than his early LBC one), then he might steal me away from Duncan Barkes on BBC London. I was pleasantly surprised when I heard his more recent podcasts.

A quote from Radio Today Industry News:

"talkRADIO will broadcast a number of specialist magazine shows at the weekend, with topics covered including property, motoring, consumer affairs, comedy, sex and relationships, and the paranormal."

A change is more than welcome from the 7 day diet of news topics. Woo-hoo . Wonder what weekdays are going to consist of?

EDIT: Apologies, didn't see this extract has already been posted.
