Hi all,

Very long time LBC listener and have followed this thread on and off over the years. This is my first post and may seem a little unusual but, here goes.
Did any contributors here happen to listen to Nick Abbot standing in for Darren Adam last night?

Nick was struggling for callers and a very odd chap who may have imbibed alcoholic refreshment made various unpleasant proclamations about homosexuality (approx 11.40). He then went on to, rather surprisingly, say that he was a publisher and had books that were studied at Harvard including 'The Fight Back From Crisis' by Davis and Whiteman.

A cursory google search hasn't yielded much and the book seems to be out of print. I'm wondering if anyone has any additional information?

Thanks in advance - C

That's all right then. Ignore the mayhem caused to all and sundry and those stabbed or beaten up.

All well worth it. As long as YOU had a good time.

Welcome to the thread. Hope you will continue to join in with your thoughts. I did hear the call or at least tuned in mid way through it. I always like hearing callers with less conventional views, it's a shame that we don't get a few more of them even if some do talk nonsense. Sorry, don't have any information about the book though, often things said by callers have to be enjoyed as entertainment and taken with a pinch of salt. Not to say that they are not true sometimes though.

Thank you Oscar and Snowy Ghost.

I was intrigued as the book was available but with scant information. The caller was a most bizarre cove.

Nick Abbot was a lot better than he has been since June 23rd. He's taken Brexit very badly and can't seem to reconcile his view with the outcome. He became almost unlistenable.

I'm enjoying James Whale on TalkRadio again tonight who has just informed listeners that he is standing in for fellow former LBC-ite, Julia Hartley-Brewer.

I wonder how TalkRadio's emergence has affected the RAJAR for LBC shows? I always find the figures quite cumbersome to distill. Needless to day that Paul Ross won't be intimidating Nick Ferrari but a James Whale vs Clive Bull evening show could cause a problem. I tend to tune in to Iain Lee over Ian Collins. Interesting times and certainly more varied options available for speech radio aficionados.

Happy evening listening - C

Hi Charles, and welcome.

Although TalkRadio's figures will be included in the RAJAR surveys, it is normally accepted to wait for a year to see how the figures bed down. The station started at the end of March of this year.

If you have difficulty with the RAJAR figures, have you seen Paul Easton's blog? His summary as well as the figures always makes interesting reading.

An interesting bit of competition of James Whale and Clive Bull, both popular LBC presenters. However, you have to remember that LBC has been established (in various forms) for 43 years, whereas TR is the 'new kid on the block' ! Also, LBC has the advantage of an FM frequency in London.

Personally, I never really 'got' Iain Lee, so Mr Collins has my ear at night, with an occasional drift to Duncan Barkes on BBC London.

Thank you very much for posting the link to Paul Easton's blog and also for the welcome. That's a very useful tool and I will do some research - C

I'm rather glad I decided to tune into Ian Collins tonight. This is a fantastic call from Andy the rabid Remainer and he should be offered a co-hosting job with one of the other desperately pro-EU presenters on LBC. James Whale followed by Iain Lee or Ian Collins tonight is a veritable radio feast. Wonderful - C

Steve Allen is still going on about Will Young today and having a rant about having to pack his own groceries in Marks and Spencers. I wish I'd been behind him in the queue! Didn't realise the cashier packs for you, I'm going to buy one today and see if its true!

But Carolyn, has he stopped going on about that wretched Sound Of Silence Youtube video yet, and plugging it left right and centre?

Must be nearly time for the Q3 Rajars is it not Martin?

I don't get the Sound of Silence thing. It's ghastly.

Morning all.

After hearing the comment by Trump to a ten year old girl which was played on the NF show to day will Farage dismiss it as playground banter?

Nick on cracking form regards Lily Allen. "She's like Harry Enfield's German character, apologising his country's role in the war."

What a coincidence that there happened to be a camera crew there. Who'd have guessed that she's working on a new album?

NF totally unaware how the international commodities market works.
Probably best he sticks to slagging off Lily Allen.

Strange that I wonder who is next on the "Celebrity Cares" rota. I'm glad some presenters can see through all the publicity seeking bullshine.

JO'B going to be in his absolute element re the Unilever story. I just knew that this would be his topic this morning. I don't think I will be able to stand his gloating as no doubt all his calls will probably be mainly more of inflating his already huge ego

Lots of sniggering at the idea of tea not having to be imported.

https://tregothnan.co.uk/about/tea-plantation/

I don't think I can be bothered to listen. I wouldn't mind if he had something constructive to say but his fanatical anti-Brexit rants are becoming tiresome.

Now he's making excuses for Lily Allen.

Does he even believe what he is saying though? His smearing act is quite dull and so unbalanced.

Someone will rant, he will cut them off and call them stupid.

WOW!
You have posted a link saying that tea is grown in the UK.
Question. Do they supply the tea for PG Tips?
Is this really supposed to debunk what JOB is saying?
Ah Lily Allen. Why are you against her saying what she thinks?
