A lovely tribute to George Martin from David, Ken and their guest.

I am moved.

Petrie talking about bullying and telling us that she was bullied once at school, the girls who did it were expelled and found guilty of ABH and GBH. Hmmmm........

1. The Travel/Roads update guy just pronounced the word "Barnsley" as though he was doing a Geoff Boycott impression.

2. Olly's enthusiasm for the current topic is 5% greater than is appropriate (in my opinion).

Other than that, I have absolutely nothing to say.

I do. Olly Mann's audible value is like being licked around the ears by an over excitable puppy dog.

Nick Abbot had a couple of very odd callers to start his show off tonight. Apparently, Obama is trying to incite riots in order to invoke laws that would allow him to remain as president and postpone the election....!

Listened for the first time in ages and enjoyed his take on Trump. He does seem to attract the slightly odd fringe of callers. There was one very excitable Trump fan who insisted Trump was a poor boy made good and refused to believe he had a millionaire father. But Nick was unusually patient with a lady who wittered on about her pet rabbits and cats.

Morning all.

Steve's second hour is so far a repeat of his first hour - Madonna, the Beckhams and a paedophile rapper.

The rapper would not be be a paedophile..... he would be classed as a hebephile.

"Oh Steve..... you do make me laugh out loud......"

from someone obviously taking medication ladies and gentlemen

Yes, I think that was his first caller, Rajeev (?).

There's some stat out there saying that Trump isn't such a great businessman, and would have made more from his original inheritance if he'd just stuck it in a standard savings account.

Yay! C in CE giving us her views on cannabis. Must say I'm with her on this. It's naive to believe that legalising it would drive it off the streets.

Tim Marshall in for Petrie 'one-up' Hosken this week

Very difficult issue. Instinctively, I'm anti-drug, but the arguments in favour of legalisation can be quite powerful. I don't see much difference between having legal alcohol and nicotine, but not cannabis. And it would save money fighting a war they can never win.

Presumably it would be sold under the same kind of license as tobacco and alcohol; it will be illegal to sell it to under-18s. That leaves a hell of a big market for illegal trading and could possibly lead to even more targeting of schools. And a caller made a very good point in that, as with tobacco, the Government will over-tax it so that it will always be cheaper on the street.

You are right in what you say about Trump and his starting money which Pa Trump gave him. If you add in his various bankruptcies and the cost to his unpaid creditors then his business record is far from perfect.
There was a great article in the NY Times a while back which had a figure of how many Mexicans had worked in his various schemes in the last twenty years. Was in the hundreds of thousands.
Can you imagine what a Dial the Donald section on the Nick Ferrari show would be like?

Lots confused thinking on Stig this morning over the subject of legalising cannabis.
The main argument was about the tax money it would produce, hmm yes money before health.
Another argument was that people do it anyway, hmm yes good idea, why not legalise other illegal activities that people do anyway.
A particularly confused caller justified his cannabis use because his doctor said it was helping his depression, but he also added "I never believe anything a doctor tells me".

It's an interesting topic. ATM the only people making money are the dealers and it is a gateway drug into a life of using harder drugs which the dealers will be only too happy to supply.

And a lot of items in his clothing range have a label saying 'Made in Mexico'.

Agreed, and of course we do see illegal trade in cigarettes.

It also means that police time and resources would be available to target specific areas. ATM because there is so much trade in drugs the sentences for supply are almost non existant. Under new legislation supply would carry a much stiffer sentence
Maintainin the status quo will ensure that a career dealing drugs is a viable and lucrative option for many.

Just been listening. Yes exactly the same but without the trip to the garden centre and the meal out of haddock and chips.

Nice to hear fanny's got a list of people he wishes were dead too.

The advantage of licensed dispensary schemes I guess is that proper health information could be provided in the dispensary. Many people are unaware of the mental illnesses that even light 'recreational' use creates 20 or 30 years down the line - schizophrenia, paranoia , depression, mood disorders etc. There are apparently 1500 such dispensaries in LA and the opportunity to provide health information was the main motivation for the scheme.

It would also limit the use of the hybrid skunk that is now extensively taken and can be very harmful long term.
Just Say No and drugs cars and the war on drugs have been spectacular failures.

I can't see it ever happening. After successive governments demonising the use of tobacco, I can't imagine one giving the thumbs up to something else we can stick in our mouths, set light to and inhale.
