Drug use has been around for thousands of years so best we make it as safe as possible for those who wish to do it and reduce the opportunity for soft drug users progressing to harder drugs.

Start a new age hippy era you mean? This hang-out in Brighton was highlighted by a caller on one of O'B's shows, apparently..'You can get Anything You Want at Alice's Restaurant'.

No. I meant a well thought out and mature approach to a serious problem. Guess I am being a tad optimistic to get a reasoned answer against. I find that LBC tends to cater to the LCD of most debates.

BB. Was a famous song lyric from the late Arlo Guthrie which personified the hippy era. The artist was much before my time but I thought it rather apt. Thanks for your tad condescending reply.

Arlo Guthrie is still very much alive.

No problem, Cayce.
After all, it could be argued that Arlo was also exaggerating slightly when he sang 'You can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant.'
A sign on the wall said 'breakfast at any time'.
I ordered scrambled eggs on toast during the Renaissance.

I'm sure you did order scrambled eggs, hope it agreed with your digestion? Just imagine if 'right-wing' eggs on toast had been delivered on a plate/and or otherwise? I'm sure you would have vomited and asked for a doggie bag?

This is a bit puzzling.

When are the "better class of caller" (just mentioned) going to phone in to the "better class of presenter" who is inexplicably stuck on the midweek before 1 am shift?

Will they be phoning at half past midnight?

Ah...thank goodness for that. The thread goes back on topic.

Careful! We don't want anybody doing a flounce. Although I don't think we have any of Steve's ultra-sensitive fans left, have we? I've always thought he was fair game for criticism, given the tone of his own musings on celebs.

What the heck is J O'B wittering on about this morning. Given the paucity of callers, I'm not the only one who's baffled.

Question JOB is asking is why people who are struggling blame the single mum or similar Daily Mail target but do not question why the richest 1% get richer by paying low wages which need to be topped up by the government.

He should have said that and got on with getting callers' reactions instead of segueing off in all directions.

Possibly. Busy, busy, busy!

But he did make a meal out of what was a fairly simple proposition.

I really enjoyed Ferrari eviscerating that dopey student rep. earlier.

I never understand why Steve's diehard fans don't ever see why his witterings are not fair game for criticism.

His whole show is criticising and bitching about all and sundry.

Now you mention it. I heard that and IMO all this stuff about banning statues and moaning about fancy dress is irrelevant nonsense.
Then we had the story of Top Gear screeching around Horse Guards and somehow folk who would scoff at the students were all outraged at this supposed disrespect.
Both stories are trivial and do not impact my life or just about anyone else's in any way.

There's no news anywhere other than Boris having a go at Obama so I think they're struggling for subjects.

Being a recent recruit to LBC I am interested to know what the general mood was amongst the callers and broadcasters when Clarkson got sacked. I would imagine that story got major coverage.

I find myself mentally switching off during his intros - they are too long and self-indulgent. This morning's rant was mind-numbing

The discussion regarding the German co-pilot who committed suicide, taking with him 149 passengers/crew, was rather elusively airy-fairy and wordy.

I think James might have been more condemnatory of the Doctor who declared Lubitz, " Unfit for work" - yet, failed to advise the airline........if, his own wife & 2 daughters had stepped on that plane.

Still, I learnt that James is not short of a few bob - which is comforting and that it is perfectly Ok to bring up all your children, courtesy of the tax-payer

I also learnt what the word, 'Promulgate' means I had to look it up - but I can spell, ' Idiosyncrasy.'

Happy Monday to All x

I'm not sure Tom Watson should press for answers on whether Gove was the source of the allegations. It makes it implicit that the Queen did say what she is alleged to have said about the EU - which the Queen denies.
