Did anyone else find Nick A's show, last night.... odd ? He rambled on about the evils of Trump for the full three hours - with a touch of Brexit, of course !!

He seems to have lost his trade-mark humour & why has he become so surly & rude ???? And ......why are LBC/ his producers allowing him to repeat himself, week after week

He has always been one of my favourite presenters...always guaranteeing a giggle.

Sadly, no more - I am very disappointed !!

Happy Weekend to you All x

I know there's criticism of Andrew Castle on here. He may not be up to speed on political topics, but on other stories I quite like his kindly, gentle manner. Quite soothing on a Saturday morning, no?

I've been recording every one of Nick's shows pretty much since he returned to LBC so I could listen on the journey to work or whenever I felt like some Nick midweek, but after catching a bit of the show an houtr in (live) last night I probably won't bother now, I never thought the day would come where I would delete a recording of Nick"s show without even giving it a listen.

Precisely and a very sensible thing to recognise. This is why one should listen to those to whom it does matter and respect their choices, whether it be about skin colour, disability or anything else.

Faced with the obtuseness of some of his callers, who (as he said) ring every week but say exactly the same thing, I would also be surly and rude. I think he's done well to rein himself in with some of them, actually!

No wonder people are confused.
Personally, I can't see why it matters but then I'm not black.
Mind you, I couldn't care less whether I'm called white, pink or beige.”

I understand what you mean. Words do come in and go out of favour. However, the black people I know call themselves black. I've never heard any of them use "brown face".

Same here. I became a regular listener a couple of years ago. I stopped listening after the referendum. I'll give it a go occasionally, but after about five or ten minutes I switch over. It's become one humourless man moaning and being rude to callers.

I don't listen to Nick Abbot. I read on here he keeps airing the same topic/?s. If he doesn't vary his subject matter, how can he expect a different response, or new callers?

It must rain heavily every weekend in the wee small hours now as this Overnight Mat is always sopping wet. The saturated Liberalism, excruciating deference/empathy with hard-luckers and people with politics like his and exaggeration about how privileged he is etc, are irritating to the extreme. I also notice he is increasingly prone to talking over callers who are not simply reflecting back his own disposition on a topic - so he's rude as well as incompetent. Let's hope he's presenting only on a trial basis, and will be replaced at the first contractual opportunity.

Yes, I am guilty of calling him 'bemused He does seem to live in his own, affluent bubble, though - but he comes across as a very gentle & pleasant man. I used to like Larry Lamb for the very same reason.

Yes, snowy - I think he was really embarrassed when CM 'had a go' at that guy about the, ' sleeping tram driver.'..... Andrew is never confrontational ....and it is his show !

They ring every week about the same topic - because Nick discusses the same topic, every week, saying the exact same things !

I have always been a great fan of NA. I hope he moves away from these topics, very soon and his sense of humour is restored

Anyone else wondering if it's SA, celebrating his one morning off per week, throwing objects at Police from a rooftop in Heath Road in Twickenham? Or maybe it's Vince, cross that he has been overlooked for the Christmas Lights extravaganza.

If NA has become a boring whinge-bag, up to him to change the record. For the record, when I did tune in many years ago, he was complaining even then, his radio job was a means of paying the bills. I'm sure some listeners found this very droll, I didn't! His presentation at the time, was slow, fumbling for words he couldn't even articulate. The man is bored FGS. Maybe Abbot was an excellent in his heyday, however, no longer a 'radio legend', (which some have claimed). I believe he unenthusiastically depends on his past glory for listeners' to tune in to his show - to 'pay the bills' to add.
Any self-respecting presenter would have hung up their cap before now, imo.

Maybe it's the station management, look at Clive Bull's show now. I reckon Nick is an excellent radio host and maybe he's just hit a bad patch LBC ain't the most innovative station at the moment, look at some of the newer presenter signings recently I wouldn't hire them to do hospital radio let alone one broadcasting from London to London and beyond.

Why should NA's attitude or ability to entertain be affected by who LBC choose to present other shows? I very much doubt that he listens to the station himself. And even if the remit is current affairs, that doesn't tie him down to the same topics week after week. I gave up listening regularly a couple of years ago when he had an obsession with bankers' bonuses. He ceased being iconoclastic a long time ago and is now the station's resident grumpy time-server.

Amazing. He's been doing the same, repetitive topics for years, accompanied by the same silly sound effects, and seriously rude to callers. Yet everyone here 3 years ago was saying how brilliantly funny and clever it all was..

Move forward 3 years and 1 or 2 fans finally begin to wake up and realize what a lazy, rude presenter he is and then everyone starts to agree. But NA has at least got one thing spot-on - people acting more and more like parrots.
