He still is funny and clever and the sound effects are great and part of the show, he just needs a few more topics on the go.

I agree. As I said before, he seems constrained by his callers, who still seem to want to phone in and get angry about Brexit & Trump. Last night was the same old repetitive callers, who still don't listen to a word NA says or answer his reasonable questions, so he gets grumpy. Quite understandable in the face of some of them if you ask me.

Thing is no one is forced to listen to his show they can and do something else instead, as I mentioned before l gave Friday's show a swerve but I'm still going to give tonight's show another go....

Well, absolutely.

I suppose with NA that he is traditionally so popular on this forum that it's perhaps not surprising that he gets more comments when his show isn't what people wanted or expected. It feels like there are still some very angry people out there who won't let the topic of Brexit go, as if they are determined to make them see their point of view, but this runs across all shows now, I feel. I still find it quite disturbing just how angry some people are, even though their side won!

I'm afraid it's NA who won't change the topics, that's why each show is a repeat of previous ones. It's him that sets the agenda, so no wonder people keep making the same points. The topics have been done to death and yet the phone-ins continue. Perhaps he should do what Iain Lee does and say "if you've no new angle, don't call in about Brexit or Trump." Last night someone called Iain with a Brexit call and he stopped them mid-flow and said "talk about something else".

Two things:

That's not true. They call in regardless of his topics, as proven many times.

It's not as if NA is alone in this - all the presenters seem to be permanently on repeat mode.

Sadly, no more - I am very disappointed !!

Happy Weekend to you All x”

he was very funny last night. i dont mind his samey topics because there is always some new insight , fact or angle. others dont offer anything new generally. and i think he's the best on lbc even though im not with him on some of his opinions.

listening to nick ferrari work the callers and his bait and switch technique is funny too. though his lbc political agenda is stinky most of the time.

I'm afraid It is true. He chooses the subject matter and the producer or whoever vets the callers and content, before they are put to air. As I said previously, he can easily discontinue the calls, if the callers change back to Brexit or Trump. It works for Iain Lee. so if other presenters choose to go through Groundhog Day, they deserve to be bored in their work.

I stand by what I said. Although he does indeed sometimes choose the topics of Brexit etc, when he doesn't, those same callers still call in. I have personally heard it many times.

Nick Abbot is too blasé, set in his ways, to extend his range of limited of topics - more fool him, perhaps that's just 'The Way It Is'.

Arnold Schwarzenegger gets royalties each time NA uses the "correct" sound clip. It's the actor's voice. I think NA overdoes the same sound clips. Probably needs to get some new clips.

I heard a bit of Nick er Abbot in the 11.00pm hour and he was in a very strange mood, very bad tempered and very repetitive. He cut three callers off because they challenged him and when another caller mentioned it later, he didn't give him a lot of time either. I enjoyed some of his shows the last few weeks so tonight was disappointing. He seems to suffer mood swings and to enjoy depressing everyone else when he's down. I wonder if he has bipolar disorder.

I like AC too. I like his respecful manner towards callers and I like the fact that he doesn't preach to us. He appears to be in the same situation as the rest of us and asks the same questions that the we ( or, at least, I ) are asking.
I can actually understand what he's talking about.

Nice to hear Jon Briggs again on LBC last night: he was being interviewed by Lucy Beresford's stand-in. Reminded of the days when he presented the Weekend Wireless Show on a Saturday morning with Bob Tomalski and later Fevzi Turkalp doing a gadget/tech phone-in.

Maybe next time Iain Dale pops in here or radiodad they could explain to us how the topics are picked for the show?

Is it the presenters or do the producers have a say??

Nick said last night he had no intention of doing his whole show based on the Buck Palace story and had 20 pages of stuff he didn't get to do.

I do find LBC has become a 'very angry' station. Some of the presenters seem to have turned the angry, shock jock switch up to 11 and I don't know if that's an LBC directive or if everyone is fed up with the way the world is.

I end up putting Smooth on half the time just to get away from it.

This is the first time I have listened to this Nawaz chap and it is incredibly patronising drivel.

Your description sounds exactly like James O'Brien! If any LBC presenter has mood swings on air, it's him. Come to think of it, it would be a feat of human endurance for any talk show presenter to never show any mood swings on air. They're only human, after all. But O'Brien seems to put callers down when he's in a bad mood. It's really obvious. Kinda unprofessional or annoying. I turn him off when he's like that. Nick Abbot has a more irreverent sense of humour and I guess that helps him mask his occasional rudeness to callers.

I agree. He keeps telling listeners that calls should be polite and respectful but there is an underlying threat in his 'polite' delivery, somewhat passive/aggressive. He reacts badly to any criticism

'So, you are saying that because of NHS cuts, you would rather euthenaise instead of going into a care home?' All said with a dreadfully sotto voce 'I care' voice.

'No, I just don't want to go into a home, I want to stay where I am.'

Dreadful radio.

Yes, and if it is the presenters, are they only picking subjects for the 'ten minute reach' audience share? Because it certainly isn't catering very well to the listener who tunes in for any longer that that.

I've said this before on here. I can't help thinking that when all the new ten minute reach listeners have tuned in for enough ten minute segments to get wise to this serial recidivism, that the current ratings increase will drop off quite drastically.

Well done to Katie Hopkins btw for a four fold increase in listenership. Let's see what extension plans the station come up to expand the show.

For anyone who didn't hear Iain Dale's fascinating interview a few weeks ago with Ann Coulter:

Incidentally she was laughed at on TV when she forecast way back that Trump was going to win the Presidential race:

It is intelligent conversation for intelligent people. None of this choosing between the control left and alt right. He's hit the delete button.
