Anyone as excited as I am that it's Nick Abbot night?

Or is everyone getting bored/is long bored of the consistent flow of;

A. Brexit...
B. Trump...
C. Royals...
D. Consumerism & mentioning that FILM! (which ain't all that)...
E. Facts...
& his new addition
F. Being rude to regular callers...

He keeps going on about how it's a talkshow but it no longer feels like a talkshow where anyone who has a different opinion is told they are WRONG then dumped and he keeps going on and on and on and on about the same things!

Or is it just me...

I remember around a year ago when I first started listening to Nick Abbot, I was amused & regularly having a chuckle - not so anymore

Maybe he'll talk about the power cut in the area...

Well done, James, for this morning putting your metaphorical boot firmly up the backside of the ludicrous Brexit denials of expert evidence pointing to the folly of leaving the EU, and exposing continued Brexit ignorance, bigotry and nastiness. Their hair-brained delusions are unraveling before our eyes.

Rest assured, it's not just you. Being rude to the occasional caller is an occupational hazard; but being rude to many callers is plain ignorant. As for the subject matter, it seems to keep LBC going, the same way Wayne Rooney keeps Talksport going. ie a boring torrent of inane chatter.

all this to prove that JoB is happy with his iphone 4 and is very very careful with his money. because a phone is a phone.

however as we all know these very very very expensive watches are investments not throwaway items, they generally dont depreciate greatly if at all. its the same as JoB and his stash of Marmite and Gold bars really.”

Don't forget that James O'Brien probably has crates and crates of Grey Goose vodka as well as all those leftover Beetroot Brownies that "all the family love so much".

Yes it's definitely an appointment to listen type of show, even though he's been stuck in the same grove for a few months.

As you said - it's complex.

I must remind myself never to comment, here, on the Brexit issue again. However, IMO, James, with his intellectual twisting, turning & retracting, does himself no favours.

My last word on the subject.

J O'B is starting a journey alright, a Brexiting forecast, how many others will follow his current 'dictate' wjich has been raked over for days - a constant mantra, unerringly repetitious,
Some days back J O'B started a little regime of his own, by making predictions over Brexit, quoting statistics to take the undying opportunity in turning from pompous into something resembling or, affiliated with a 'unicorn'. Latest ace word (he thinks) to grasp listeners' attention. Moving on ... during his prophecy of unceasing doom and gloom which will inevitably befall us from Exiting, he's been unnervingly reiterating throughout his debates/ conversations, this: "You know I'm right", "I'm usually right", "You'll see I'm right", and other variations thereof, which has been going on for a while. To my horror today, a listener was actually ECHOING his words!!
I can hear a mantra, I can also HEAR the undertones of brainwashing , whether deliberate or not. James is walking a tight rope, call it neo-fascism for labelling purposes in deploying radio, as a stage for spouting strong political agenda. I just hope listeners remain cynical, and not easily persuaded.

That's his opinion. He may be right, he may be wrong. But he is entitled to it. You have to ask yourself why governments of both colours have kept us in the EU over the years. Presumably cos they new it was for the best. To think otherwise suggests that our MP's are stupid. Why do you think that Theresa won't comment on our strategy. She knows that Brexit will be a disaster.

Sorry to change the subject from Brexit which is why I won't comment on NA's show, last night.

I enjoyed Steve's conversation with Monty Don, this morning. Probably, because I am a dog person. Anyone who feels the same should listen to the repeat, tomorrow night.

Happy Saturday to you All x

Have I missed Cuban Tony this morning. Perhaps he's lying in a darkened room, clutching a damp hankie.

Wasn't Monty Don refreshing to listen to, a natural unassuming man. Also, Steve seemed to gel with him, and didn't talk all over him.

Hi all. Haven't looked on the thread for a week so had about 15 pages of posts to catch up on!

A couple of points I would like to make in response to some of the comments on the thread over the past week.

Firstly, about the whole "Cast of Hamilton calling out Mike Pence" story. I completely agreed with Nick Ferrari's stance on this one. It was the same when Benedict Cumberbatch used his stage appearances to deliver after-show lectures to the crowd about the refugee crisis. Actors are there to act- to learn lines and repeat them. As Nick said: "actors are glorified answering machines". It is not the job of the actors to make political statements in an attempt to embarrass the Vice-President. If a conservative actor (if such a thing exists) did the same thing to Joe Biden, the libtards would be up in arms at it. As usual with the libtards, it's one rule one way and not the other.

The US media did some digging and found that some of the cast of Hamilton who wrote the speech to Pence actually didn't vote at all! As far as I'm concerned, if you choose not to vote then you have no right whatsoever to comment on political matters.

Secondly, I will be interested to see how much Clive Dull's listening figures will be affected by TalkRadio's appointment of James Whale to present the weekday evening 7pm-10pm slot. Some major competition to Clive.

As usual, my LBC listening remains as all of Nick Ferrari's show every weekday, some of Iain Dale's shoe every weekday evening, and very (and increasing even more very) occasional (and usually brief) forays into the shows of some of the other presenters.

For instance, this morning I listened to the last hour of Andrew Castle and the first hour of Matt Frei. I found Castle to be a decent listen- he knows how to talk to callers and host an interesting phone-in. Frei on the other hand seems completely out of his depth. He was fine when it was the US election due to his extensive and interesting knowledge of the subject matter but when he talks about anything other than US politics you can see that he isn't comfortable. This morning he read the same intro (about the death of Fidel Castro) 3 times! Once in the preview for his programme at 9.45am, again in the prelude into the news at 9.59am, and again in the intro to his programme at 10.03am!

Because the EU provided a large number of jobs for politicians. For them it was an enormous windfall because if you lose your seat as an MP you can go on your party's list as an MEP.

The irony was that the expenses etc from having a group of MEPs helped to finance Ukip.

Which would be equivalent to an employee spreading negative publicity about the company they work for, with the intention of bringing the company down.
The employee wouldn't last five minutes.
