OMG, a woman caller is giving Farage a right going over. "You're self-important", "shouldn't be an ambassador for this country we need a proper one"," who do you think you are".

She sounded American. Nobody can say they're censoring the calls; he's had a few hostile ones, let them have their say and stayed polite to them all.

There's been a very good range of callers to Farage in this last hour. It's not just the fawning brexiters like myself. The naysayers have been very respectful. You can hear the anger and indignation in their voices but they they've kept it on a level. With such diplomacy perhaps Farage would make a good ambassador after all. O'Brian could certainly do with taking a few leaves out of his book.

I think not. JOB is himself, however unpalatable you may find him, Farage cannot afford to say what he REALLY thinks, he is a political leader and HAS to appear nice and cuddly. He is an act.

Mr Farage is now asking his audience whether they think he'd be a good 'ambassador'.

I think he needs to join the Tory party if he wants to be part of the government.

I mean, apart from the possibility of getting lamped by 'Iron' Mike Hookem, what harm could possibly come from it?

Nigel is a Tory at heart & he's desperate for some sort of big gig, despite telling us all he wanted his life back, so cosying up to May & trying to bag a ministerial role would be right up his street.

Farage isn't the right type. I think Boris would make a brilliant Ambassador, although he seems to be doing quite well as Foreign Secretary.

Never thought i would be grateful for listening to Steve but sitting in bed hearing him talk about the festivities planned for Twickenham from lunchtime onwards, i was able to rearrange my visit to a client there, and got there and back early this morning.
I drove past the plinth he will stand on, which was being built at 9.30am. Looked quite sturdy, you will all be relieved to hear.

I disagree. Did you see the reaction of the US state department spokesman when Boris was announced as Foreign Secretary during one of his press conferences? He smirked and struggled to stop himself from laughing. That's what Americans think of Boris.

Farage meanwhile is revered by a significant proportion of Americans, who see him as the man who pulled off Brexit and started the anti-establishment bandwagon which catapulted Trump into the White House.

What do you mean by 'people like you'?

I didn't hear Nigel. I would like to hear the woman caller that Cayce mentioned.

The LBC website (so far) only has the clip of the Dad that phoned in worried about his son and telling Farage that 4% interest rates next year will be "the end" for him.
Farage said that depends on wage inflation.

I don't think so. A Mortgage calculator will tell you that a change from Almost Zero interest to 4% will create mayhem for millions of people with mortgages.

I think there is a reasonable chance that the callers prediction will come true:
"In a years time you will be the most hated man in the Uk."

The reason people's mortgages will be untenable is because most followed the 'dash for cash' mortgage scenario brought about by Brown and Blair. I lived through the Tory recession in the mid to late 80's and my interests rates soared to double figures, but we could manage it because of the amount we were allowed to borrow. We were only allowed to take out 1/ 1/2 plus 1 salary amounts as a mortgage so that ones payments were never sky high. At the height of Blair's revolution there were deals offering 5 times your salary - absolute madness which has fuelled the whole crisis we see now.

My parents post wartime generation advice of 'never take on what you might not be able to pay back' actually does work.

Spot on Mou Mou and that's why rents and house prices have gone through the roof (of course the political elite conveniently took these items out of the inflation calculation).

Kids today can only dream of home ownership unless it's inherited.

A guy on Clive Bull (a Debt Expert) was saying something similar tonight.
But what got my attention was him saying that a rise of half of one percent will put many people in trouble. He may have said 1 million.

People have got used to:-

An ridiculously over priced pound
Cheap debt
Easy credit
Easy access to loans
Stupidly low inflation

As most of us tend to live up to our means and not within them, any small change in the above will cause damage.

Farage off to the US for forgiveness for all the nasty things that have been said about his new BFF Trump.
He should ask for forgiveness from those who have been victims of hate crime since the brexit vote and his part in creating a climate where nasty haters feel that they are normalised and their hatefull actions are legitimate.

When has Farage ever advocated hate crimes? Especially as he and his own family have been on the receiving end. If people commit hate crimes they should be arrested and punished because they broke the law. Ive never heard Farage say anything that condones violence or intimidation.

Yes he was escorted away for his own safety after coming under attack from some neanderthals in Scotland who were unwilling to listen to any views that weren't in accordance with their own.

Why am I not surprised ?

Allegations of crimes motivated by race or religious hate have increased 41% since the Brexit vote, says the Home Office.

The number of racially and religiously aggravated allegations jumped by two fifths in July - compared to the same month last year.

There were 3,886 such crimes logged in July 2015, rising to 5,468 in July this year.

Hate crime is defined by police as "any criminal offence which is perceived, by the victim or any other person, to be motivated by hostility or prejudice towards someone based on a personal characteristic".

So, an increase of 1,500 complaints from a population of 65 million people.........hardly epidemic proportions, just the media and Liberal Remoaner Idiots trying their best to suggest that ALL of the U.K. Issues must somehow be Brexit related.
