Ah okay. When James O'Brien said he was "fumbling around in the dark" I feared another breastfeeding discussion was on its way and switched him off.

For a moment this morning I thought that JOB was going to go with:
Believe the Children (who are accusing Football Coaches)
Don't Believe the Children (who are accusing Politicians)

But he didn't.

I preferred Duncan on LBC, i liked his robust approach at night. It felt like an old skool late night phone in like Boyd and Dickin used to do.

He will have to find a link between the abuse and Brexit before he does so.

The lack of child abuse coverage is probably down to the fact that the BNP were the first to raise concerns about Rotherham, but were ignored because they were a 'racist' organisation. He hates the fact.

Yeah, you've been consistent in your like for NF for years now. I don't know what changed for me. Either he became less irritating for mytaste or I finally *got* his presenting style. Or maybe the rest of the day-to-day LBC schedule got more politically gloomy and dark and partisan, less humourous and bland once Global took over.

As for JOB, I think you're right. There was something light-hearted, joyful and funny to JOB in the early days. He was a delightful listen back then. All that seems to have been lost. I wish he wouldn't take everything so seriously. Yes, the world is so ridiculously bonkers-absurd right now that I'm literally gagging for a presenter on LBC who could make me burst out laughing at the crazy stupidity of it all w/o resorting po-faced crude mockery.

I wouldn't find it an easy thing to do on my part because he makes my skin crawl hearing him but duty comes first I must defend British democracy even at this terrible cost to myself listening to it.”

I know what you mean. I tried to do that, but honestly each time I did, I came away more vexed than I did going in.

Apparently medical centres up and down the land are filling up with people suffering with acute Referendumitus and at the moment there is no known cure to fix it.

Not half as incredible as him intending to vote Labour tomorrow. And I really don't think a chat in a pub was likely to lead to a Damascene conversion by Goldsmith.

You know what?
I didn't believe that either. TBH I'm not that certain Jim has a vote in Richmond, he just fancied going on the radio to talk rubbish.
Some classic muttering from NF during the call and who could blame him on this one?

He was very strange; and, as you say, NF's muttering was justified.

A good consensual start to St. Andrew's Day.

(He is also the patron saint of spinsters, fishmongers and people with gout!)

yes typical of the bnp to ignore 99.9% of child abuse and focus on non white perpetrators and oddly its the same for many who have the tendency to agree with the bnp/nf/edl/ukip.

its fairly obvious whats going to happen since its already happening and none of it is looking good -- and all the evidence finds, as nick abbot keeps pointing out, brexit was only about immigration. and as nick keeps saying theres nothing that can be done to lower immigration if its based on the economy .. which it is. he was also trying to blame the benefits available for immigration but the facts dont bear this out. though he is correct if he is saying there is a false perception that benefits are on tap - which they are not.

does anyone believe JoB hasnt sexted and is as unknowing as he was claiming this morning?

something very wrong with british culture especially if one now looks at vip abuse, sports abuse, online abuse, offline abuse and the abuse in schools as detailed in the latest government committee report. a nation of sexual deviants it seems.

A close call redvers, very close. Having just switched on the radio J O'B is expounding on PMT in women.

The first hour was a rather prurient discussion about sexting.

Nothing wrong with British culture, in comparison to other cultures.

Gently and politely patronising and purposely misrepresenting the concept of 'freedom of movement" simply to confuse the guy.

Still it was marginally better than the way he dealt with the "corporate governance" issue in which he suggested that ordinary workers are too dim to understand the big words that board members use and then took two calls from people that ran their own companies as evidence that the idea cannot work. Frankly why even mention it if he is not going to address it properly?

Yes, at least we draw the line at stoning women to death for adultery and pitching gays off tall buildings. And I guess in some countries marriage to 13-year-old girls doesn't count as child abuse.

Tbf, it wasn't a bad segment from him today. It was informative, sympathic compassionate and empathic because the subject matter was a topic that compels him to be informed, compassionate and empathic. He was prevented from turning his radio mic into a strange diadatic hybrid comprised of elements associated with being in a school room, university lecture/seminar, science lab and psychaitrist's couch. He was prevented from unleashing his judgmental intellectualising schoolmarmism on his audience.

I'm looking forward to listening to his next guest. In light of some posts on here yesterday, their comments got me thinking about really why I prefer NF now (when I never used to) and dislike JOB (when previously I never did).

I hope JOB will return to this topic very soon.
I am very concerned that a former Child Footballer may phone the help line and will not be believed because his name happens to be "Nick".

Victims of Child Abuse do sometimes have inconsistencies in their stories. In their own guidelines the CPS warn against the following....which they describe as a "myth".
A victim who has been sexually assaulted will remember events consistently

They also say: The process by which memories are laid down during a traumatic event may impact on issues such as consistency.

What could have caused this trauma that may lead to the child being damaged....and possibly inconsistent??
