Thank you Ma'am but a biased pile of cack is exactly what it is. I've been in exile from him ever since the referendum result back in June, tell me does he ever say "I respect the referendum result ...... but........." like all the rest of them do?, just wondering that is all.

Oh damn I've let Venetian down again by flipping well mentioning him again on here. sorry.

But......didn't we have this discussion the other day?

1. JOB's chat with his Boss has been about JOB having an even bigger profile since he started ranting about the Referendum and Brexit. I suggested to you that you are missing the key element of Advertising Funded Broadcasting and it seems that is still the case. The 3.3 Million people viewing a short clip is something that LBC want more of.....not less of.

2. Did we not establish that JOB is not "sailing very close to the wind" as you claimed? You have provided no evidence of that. Another presenter has been been censured by the watchdog and is therefore - by definition - sailing close to the wind each time he gets agitated when race or immigration is the topic.
At the time of the ruling the Guardian headline line called Ferrari a "Racist" Shock Jock. That is a bit rude. I have never called him that. I have called him a man who will be remembered for inventing the Trampolining Dwarf Weather Presenter.

3. The "daily pile of biased cack" is reportedly attracting 800,000 listeners.
That is a lot more than the 2 men and a dog who are listening to Julia Hartley-Brewer's daily pile of biased cack in the same time slot. The 800,000 are selecting LBC to listen to JOB. They are not selecting LBC to listen to rush hour traffic and travel. Let's not forget that the 800,000 listening to JOB does not include many more not listening to JOB who are listening to JOB.

Nice try Venetian but we couldn't even make it to the next page without him being mentioned ...

David Mellor was on Channel 4 news last night talking about the child abuse in football. He was very good. LBC's loss.

From the tiny bits I have heard of O'Brien lately [and admittedly my exile from him is coming to an end I've downloaded Friday's podcast to listen to] and from everything I have read on here I wouldn't say O'Brien has any bigger or any smaller profile Landis he's just the boring re-moaner he ever was unable like so many to accept a democratic referendum decision that the UK leave the EU completely.

When you listen to the podcast, you'll hear an excited, febrile diatribe from J O'B asking what lies behind the Brexit door. He mentions Alice Through the Looking Glass, asking repeatedly if there's a lion behind the door/exit. Sounding like a proverbial nitwit and to use his confined dictionary, he exhibited 'profoundly' & 'demonstrably' utter bilious schoolboy cack!
I was left thinking, you can take the schoolboy out of the man/bush but you can't take the bush out of the schoolboy.

He hasn't said ever that he doesn't accept the decision to leave.

I select LBC not to listen to Jim O'B (nor Clive Bull, Shelagh Fogarty, and any weekend presenter except Nick Abbot if he is not going on again about brexit). I now listen solely to NF and ID during the week but 'talk radio' is on from 7.00 until 23.00 7 days per week. I am one of the two men listening to J H-B - never thought I would say that but even she is better than Jim. I also listen to James Whale in preference to Clive Bull.
Beeb 5 aka Talk Football remains a no no but Beeb 4 is good for some progs. The rest of the time I listen to US talk radio where they all have constant modulation but loads of ads which, unlike LBC, seem to be made professionally.

Maybe posting about things that have been said would be a start.
Rather than making things up.

Fair do's. However, J O'B would be better at making his alternative views known if he didn't present them in such an attention-seeking, self-indulgent fashion.
Put it this way, if 'a messenger' knocked on my door and expounded unduly over and beyond the actual message he/she wanted to deliver, I would start to question their motives. In a nutshell, I'm suspicious of those who oversell their particular product/viewpoint. I can't deal with desperados who lend themselves to be too needy.

After Friday's "shock jock" effort by Julia Hartley-Brewer which of course apparently was competing with some silly schoolboyish Brexit door from James I would expect TalkRadio to strengthen relative to LBC.

But would you go public with saying that things were said which weren't and the opposite said many times?
This place would be easier if folk stopped trying to defend the indefensible, in this case that JOB doesn't accept the brexit vote.

No I wouldn't. This could be down to past politicos on this thread asking for evidence to be provided. I have since dotted my 'i's and crossed the t's'.

Another convert from JOB to Julia H-B here. I sometimes start with him but 5 minutes into his monologue I've had enough and go to something more entertaining and feisty. She doesn't hold back!

It's also high time he got some brand new sound effects. Plus pretending that he doesn't know what a caller has said when the call ends is just very disingenuous. Also, stop moaning about your bloody studio light automatically going out. Your listeners don't give a damn about it.

Trump is a horrific prospect, but Brexit is just the most fabulous thing the nation ever voted for.”

Thank you both - prepare yourselves for post 2 as it's going to be a looooooooong one...

Ironically he only mentioned it once but it was in every news clip with a clip of a woman going "ooh, it was so romantic..." shame it didn't affect the LBC studio...

Yes totally - even that guy has stopped calling or is being 'vetted' out - the one who would get louder & louder and angrier & angrier as he was making his point until he sounded like he was in an absolute rage about to explode!!! That always had me in stitches...

Yes, but last Saturday he did have a few callers telling him this - and I thought that may be good feedback he or his producers or LBC quality control dept (if there is one) will take on board and work with him to resolve.

He seems like he is going through the motions to me.”

You're absolutely right I forgot all about the NHS & Bankers!!!
Must be so ingrained on my mind that that area of my brain has cut itself off from the rest.
It's a shame as it's supposed to be a talkshow so callers should be allowed to talk to hear their side of the story (as Phil Collins might say) regardless if it fits in with Nicks opinion.
Nick should interact with them and using his skill & experience mould it into a light hearted entertaining experience for all his listeners...
Or have I got that completely wrong.?

Obviously if a caller becomes abusive or says something against the rules they get cutoff straight away - but I would guess they run a slight delay just in case.

Hhhmhmmhh, not sure. It definitely got much worse after B and went down the pan after T.
Or maybe it's because you've been listening to the show longer than I have and I'm only just past the run-in point and just beginning to notice.

turn your radio off if its brainwashing your worried about.
neo-fascist he isnt a lot of other things certainly ”

But you have to remember callers could be on the line waiting for long periods of time and may have been asked to turn off their radios during that time.
As it is a talkshow surely you have to hear callers out otherwise what's the point of a talkshow?
THEN work them into either being wrong or turn it into something light hearted for other listeners to enjoy.
On point of experts, I have to agree with both you & Nick!!! (bet you weren't expecting that)
Nick does talk a lot about them but I do tend to agree with him for reasons I won't go into here to avoid sound like him.

Originally Posted by snowy ghost:

That is an excellent source of material!!! Instead of playing that lame 'blipblipblip' sound bite he should work the caller and their subject matter - as any good comedy club compere will tell you "you got to work the crowd and the show will make itself"...

I thought last nights show was refreshing as it had minimum T & B content and despite being predominantly about religion was easygoing listening with no rudely cutoff callers - there was that one woman comparing religion to electricity who suddenly disappeared - if NA did cut her off it was excellent comedy timing which had me in stitches and brought back memories of the Nick I love...

I am looking forward to tonights show with fingers crossed that it will be more of the same and the 'good ole Nick' days are back....

If JOB has. accepted the Brexit vote he has a funny way of showing it He has not shut up since June insulting people who were prominent in the leave campagn ,sneering at those who voted to leave the EU at every possible opportunity. If he does accept the referendem result then to do so with good grace by now would show a measure of maturity whch by his snide remarks made daily shows he does not have.
