Kirsty Wark is having a long weekend?
Tomorrow night? That is a bit weird. Newsnight have often had a 4th presenter. Some of you may recall the BBC trying our Eddie Mair who never seemed to settle into the role. I am now wondering if the JOB listeners who are not listening to JOB are also Newsnight viewers who are "not viewing". But.....more importantly......what is the actual current listening figure for JOB if 20% of Listeners are fibbing about Listening. Maybe a nice round figure?? ![]() anyway JoB has a wife, kids, Volvo and a house in chiswick (£300k self certified mortgage) so is well on his way up the pole, but hes 44yrs old and has long way to climb to equal his peers. question is can he achieve his middle class, middle england aspirations before its too late. |

Not being funny Billy, but how long ago was that? I bet it's changed a lot even in just the last five years.
I did it myself as a student 30 odd years ago but it was VERY different then. That was pre zero hours/flooded cheap labour markets! For example the manager in charge of us at the time I think had undergone intense officer training from remnants of the Waffen-SS division still in hiding after the war such a horrible ####ard was he.

I shouldn't think even the non-listening ?listeners, would take to viewing the unviewable on Newsnight. Simply J O'B isn't exactly a cameraman's dream by any stretch of the imagination - they must use reinforced lenses. So, as far as unprotected viewers' eyes are concerned ....

many i suppose are like me just dip in and out, now and then. i doubt anyone listens/watches all the way through.

I seem to recall that JOB didn't pass his driving test until well into his mid 30's which I always found odd, a driving licence and a set of wheels was a must have at 17 even for us girlies.....wasn't it? I remember him saying he'd bought a Vauxhall Meriva, I think they are the ones that catch fire. mr Jeebie said that a Meriva was one up from a Lada.......he said he wouldn't take a dump in a Meriva, never mind a lift..........

LBC callers. PLEASE STOP SAYING "THANKS FOR TAKING MY CALL". it's a flipping epidemic on LBC. It's dull, boring and repetitive. JUST STOP IT.

I've noticed more and more people are saying this. Also, quite a lot say "As I was just saying to ... er ... the person who answered the phone ...". What's the point of saying that, especially when they've just been told they only have 30 seconds and they waste even more time by hesitating over what to call the person.
I once called LBC. They didn't ask where I was from, but they introduced me as being from a certain area, presumably based on my phone number, which wasn't the area I identified as being in. I wasn't sure it was actually my turn, so started off with something anodyne to make sure it was really me and that I was on air. |

I reckon it's a kind of verbal tic, isn't it, just to ease themselves into being on air, checking the host can hear them, and so on.

A friend of mine lives around the corner from JOB in Chiswick, she googled him and apparently he paid £720k or £740k for his house back in 2007 and it's now worth about £1.4m, which is fairly typical in that part of W4.
So, the label 'public school educated, left wing LSE oik, champagne swilling millionaire luvvie' would seem about right ![]() Oh, has he got a Volvo now? These are good things....... It is hard to make sense of your post. £1.4m in London does not sound a lot for a well paid Radio Presenter. In fact it sounds modest. |

Yes, I think it is a nervous thing. Like the people who call in and when the show host says, "Hello, John in Cardiff", the caller says, "Yes, hello John" (ie their own name, not the host's). That also happens surprisingly frequently.
I didn't know anyone on here ever successfully called in to LBC. |

As JOB said this week.......a person described as in the "Metropolitan Elite".....is actually someone who cares about everyone as opposed to someone who just cares about himself. Yep - that is a quote from JOB.

(plus the other 2 daily cars which aren't...)maybe that's why I don't live in Richmond and Chiswick anymore...wouldn't fit in....

![]() maybe that's why I don't live in Richmond and Chiswick anymore...wouldn't fit in.... ![]() In the 80's motoring journalists would test 5 family hatchbacks....and the winner would be the one that corners well at speed. ![]() In 2015 they had all long gone......except for Jeremy Clarkson who was testing road cars with a camera showing his eyes rolling back into his head in ecstasy. And now he has gone. The Electric Car is now moments away from replacing the petrol version....and the forever childish may need to grow up....
