If it was so easy to collect it why has every government for the last 20 years promised to but never has. Maybe because it's a red herring used by people to avoid our real problems and our ballooning national debt.

That’s 4 million people many stressing / watching their bank accts run out before the next pay cheque.

That’s 4 million people who aspire to look after their families and end up limiting the number of kids they have. Then worry about what will happen when they get old.

There is no limit to how much aid will be swallowed up when the fundamental issue of rapidly expanding populations are not addressed. Countries and Cultures that continue to push out ever larger numbers when they cannot support themselves will ensure that.

Aid should be restricted to such things as immediate disaster relief, family planning and provision of clean water. Any activity that undermines the local economies and disincentives people to look after themselves should be stopped along with vanity projects etc.

Out of the EU ........that's a net £12bn saved
Reduce Foreign aid to 'essential aid' ..........that's £10bn saved
Make Health Tourists pay their dues........that's £2bn saved
Zero handouts for 5 years to economic migrants.......£?
Reduce to zero child allowance paid to children who reside in other countries £?
Reduce Tax credits that support low wages (as already stated by mattm8).......Uber drivers anyone?

Collect taxes from Starbucks, Google, Amazon and Uber.
Deal with the anomaly of Luxembourg registered companies flouting tax laws.......of course we must thank our mate in the EU Mr Juncker, who as prime minister of Luxembourg set up these dodgy deals in the first place.

Just a thought, but if we have less of a need for migrant workers from Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia et al, then we will actually have more money in the UK economy as it won't be being sent 'abroad' to support families elsewhere and will be spent where it has been earned.

The Electric Car in significant numbers may happen in the next 15 years. Or it may happen in the next 30 years. That is of no relevance. Both of those are a mere blink of an eye in the cycle of Horse Drawn Cart → Petrol Engine →Electric Car.

It's not factual at all, your figures are distortions, inaccuracies and half-truths. Take your figure of health tourism costing £2 billion a year. Even our right-wing Tory government claims the cost is only about £200 million a year.

The foreign aid budget isn't Priti Patel writing out a cheque for £10 billion to give to an African despot but it's often money given to British companies to carry out essential work like building schools, hospitals and sewage systems, so much of the money actually stays in the UK economy.

Leaving the EU will cost our economy money so there is no saving there. Also, George Osborne agreed sweetheart tax deals with many of the companies you mentioned so it's not possible to collect more tax from some of them for a few years.

I could go on but I realise in this post-truth era many people don't like facts and prefer to have their right-wing opinions reinforced by fantasy figures.

My favourite friends are the ones who don't take life so seriously.....they have fun, they love and laugh and plough their own furrow, reduce stress and squeeze the most out of every encounter/experience. I aspire to be more like them

I consider myself to be a competent driver, I have both car and motorcycle licences.
I have done corporate track days at Brands Hatch, Donnington and also some Banger Racing. I have had one accident in 20 years, damage only and it was on ice, so concur on women drivers being less dangerous 😀
Maybe we have about 30 years of oil left in the ground, so alternatives are needed. I mainly take trains into London, but I do need a car/motorbike to get me around locally as we are out in the country.
I tour in Europe on motorbikes, clear roads, stunning scenery and friendly bikers everywhere..........freedom!!

1) Which model of electric car do you own?
2) Imagine you are in your driverless vehicle and it's about to crash, it has to make the decision to either save you or kill pedestrians......what should it do?

If you would care to read this article from the Daily Mirror it does claim £2bn......and that's probably conservative.
Ask yourself the question, if you own a chain of bars and you offered 'free drinks' to all of your members for an annual subscription, but your bar staff never bothered to ask for ID at the point of sale.........how many non-members do you think would be quaffing in your bars all over the UK when people realised that 'Free booze' was on offer?........you wouldn't have a clue, and therein lies the problem.
I would say it's high due to the fact that every other 'Benefit' is abused to within an inch of its life. Human nature sadly 😩
