I'm not talking about that one ... those bridges were well and truly burnt.

Ian Payne said "Aren't you". Was he just trying to prove me wrong, or did he momentarily slip up?

Looking at the TR website, Xmas Eve has nothing live from 6pm onwards, which I think is a real, real shame.

Oh for the days of a festive phone-in

Perhaps Nick Abbot will spread some festive cheer by wearing a paper hat while he's whingeing on about Brexit and Trump.

I can imagine a photo of Nick in a paper hat, looking miserable as sin - a la Tony Hancock.

It is a shame, but talkSport is even more pre-recorded on Xmas Eve, by the look of it.

Doesn't surprise me.

I'm sure TalkSport is similar too.

From Christmas Eve evening until about Boxing Day morning, it's usually just 'Press Play'!

Yes, I just don't understand it. I'd assume lots of people were listening to the radio over Xmas, in the kitchen and so on, and that they'd want to promote their station over the festive period.

I know these are not charities, but LBC used to provide some company to lots of people who were alone at Xmas - they used to call in and say so - and I don't think it would destroy their station brand to have a bit of a change for a couple of days.

It's a double-whammy loss for those who live alone and don't see anyone at xmas. Not only are they alone but now they don't have live talk to keep them company. One might as well be on a desert island listening to some tape recordings with one's last battery.

I have made sure I have loads of kindle books, since although there is two of us we don't see anyone over xmas either. Grown up kids have other places they want to be and neither of us have siblings or parents. I have a friend who is about to undergo her first xmas on her own with her husband and she asked me for tips. I advised her to do the same. She didn't realise the broadcast media all but shuts down on xmas day, since she's not had to use it before.

Iain Dale's long-term producer is leaving LBC to join BBC's Newsnight.

This is Iain's very moving tribute to him.

Let us hope that he doesn't get stuck on 'B' - swiftly moving onto, 'T'......

Yes, I agree. BurlyB should return by popular demand.

Yes, radio can be a life-line to lonely people. Especially needed at Christmas. Personally, I still miss the format of Anthony Davis' NYE programme.

He has actually been back under another name. He made some of his usual unpleasant comments about Mrs O'B and got himself banned again. Some people never learn.

Working fine now thanks.

Probably one of my most favourite presenters anywhere, he's a real pro and not a mouthy gob$h_te like someone else we know,

nick ferrari, maajid nawaz, clive bull, JoB, kt Hopkins just cant help interrupting callers when they have a need to censor. i suppose its all about fake news. they call it freespeech.

anyway at least there is nick abbott - the only real host thats actually worth listening to. facts matter. .. and at least he does attempt to have opinion and facts.

lbc is right wing, neo liberal and pro zionist. these are the core attributes of all their presenters, not one of them falls short. so lbc doesnt need to direct an agenda since they already subscribe to it without the need for direction from the top.

he's superficially the same. theres far more going on underneath.

JoB is an aspirational middle class, middle england "right wing" , "christian" "zionist" (all things he's attributed to himself in the last month or so). he appears 'liberal' because so many of the other hosts are not. he appears left because his usp at lbc is that he's taking the role of the resident lefty (which he certainly isnt).

the only interesting thing about any of these hosts is the way they discuss issues - their spin and control of the issues under the guise of 'freespeech'. once you have worked them out the shows are tedious "fake news".

nick abbott provides something different because theres a brain at work.

Isn't it good that Nick's Mum comes on here to support her son. There is no real need to as quite a lot of posters do like him anyway.

You're very good at pinning labels on people. How would you describe yourself? Class, politics, religion? It would make it easier to assess you opinions of others if we know where your loyalties lie.
