lbc is right wing, neo liberal and pro zionist. these are the core attributes of all their presenters, not one of them falls short. so lbc doesnt need to direct an agenda since they already subscribe to it without the need for direction from the top.

he's superficially the same. theres far more going on underneath.

JoB is an aspirational middle class, middle england "right wing" , "christian" "zionist" (all things he's attributed to himself in the last month or so). he appears 'liberal' because so many of the other hosts are not. he appears left because his usp at lbc is that he's taking the role of the resident lefty (which he certainly isnt).
For some reason I imagined all of this being said in a robotic voice.

Yes, I just don't understand it. I'd assume lots of people were listening to the radio over Xmas, in the kitchen and so on, and that they'd want to promote their station over the festive period.

I know these are not charities, but LBC used to provide some company to lots of people who were alone at Xmas - they used to call in and say so - and I don't think it would destroy their station brand to have a bit of a change for a couple of days.
Agreed makeba and I think that it would improve the station brand. I can also remember times when LBC had much more variety in the evenings as opposed to what we get now.

far from it , all ive done is listened to JoB et al define themselves.

anyway i dont think nick abbot has thought it through - about the automation of the railways/airplanes - waiting for when AI takes control of talk radio .. why pay people ££'s to sit around waffling

The boasting that 'our coverage was better than yours' on the brutal hacking to death of a soldier is crass to say the least.

a) Iain does tweet
b) Eye witness phones in and speaks to producer
c) Caller goes to air

It's surely last year's schedule on the LBC website. It's now showing Andrew Pierce, Ken 'n Dave and Ian Payne in next Saturday. And Cristo and Olly appear to be back! Surely not.

Morning all.

You're very good at pinning labels on people. How would you describe yourself? Class, politics, religion? It would make it easier to assess you opinions of others if we know where your loyalties lie.
far from it , all ive done is listened to JoB et al define themselves.
Come on, don't be shy. Define yourself.

There you go - for anybody feeling nostalgic for the good old days at LBC. Or new listeners who have recently found it.

A caller to Andrew Castle has left him looking rather leaden footed and limited. As he rambled on about Muslim faith schools she widened the debate to Catholic ones like the one she went to. The truth is AC seems to do no research and just rattles on about whatever he is told is in the news.

"He knows when to stop me going off on a particular tangent, he knows when he needs to curb my sense of mischief and he knows when I am thinking of doing something which might not quite work. Those are all a little negative, but totally necessary in a good studio producer. Far too many producers repeatedly let their presenters get away with blue murder, often because the producer is often afraid of the consequences of telling the presenter something in their ear they don’t want to hear."

An extract from Iain Dales tribute to his departing producer.
I wonder which other LBC presenters he might be alluding to........any ideas?

I've had a good think and I've no idea, ........... oh hang on he couldn't be on about, [stops myself] .... oh no surely not because the person I had in mind is such a political thinker, genius and always right in everything he says no producer anywhere would ever need to regulate him during a show.

Oh there's one I can think of, he's been said to act like an enraged, quote, "Bull Terrier" towards his production team. I can't help but think the face of Trump on top of the Boxer dog, (John Lewis ad) looks more accommodating. I mean, who likes an 'attack dog'?

I can't imagine the dainty hippies will get a good foam going from pure and simple delicate products. Mouth washing needs carbolic soap so I've been told, but then, I've never had any personal experience, only threats.

Depends how they act, Johnny Vaughan got sacked from Capital a few years ago and has returned to Global last year on Radio X.

Oh well ! I still can't see him returning, along with Cristo, Petrie and Olly Mann (all listed on next Saturday's schedule), all of whom have left the station.

Cristo, Petrie and Olly I can see returning for holiday cover. They all left on good terms and everyone needs a bit of overtime around the festive season

Agreed it's a bit soon for any of them to return however i wouldn't rule out a return for Olly or Cristo in the future. Petrie i somehow can't see returning however you can't be sure.

Maajid Nawaz missed an opportunity at the start of his show.

He should have explored the reasons why first generation Immigrants did not integrate.
And what was done about that (eventually) - the various parts of the Race Relations Act.

Where we are now is always interesting, but how we got here is rather important too.

I doubt if Jenny Barnett will get another look in, even though she did delete her posts later...

Heard Steve Allen play this clip this morning.
Sometimes Steve has conversations with his producer on-air but we don't get to hear the other side.
Chris Moyles and his team decided to fill in the gaps and reveal the whole thing.

LBC haven't given a toss about Xmas for several years now.

Their only nod towards it is Steve Allen in the morning
Not really true. Last year, in addition to Steve Allen's Christmas Breakfast Show, LBC had "Calls of the Year with James O'Brien and Shelagh Fogerty" and there was some sort of Christmas-related programme presented by Shelagh about Catholicism at Christmas.

As has been said, LBC are the only radio station in the country with proper live talk output over Christmas, and for people on their own during the festive period, that is very important. I'm sure there will be many people tuned into LBC to keep them company over Christmas.

And don't forget the country's 2 million Muslims, and thousands of others who follow religions which don't celebrate Christmas! Some of them will still want talk radio to listen to, and LBC is there to provide that.
