He glories in his own ignorance.

Morning all.
Like a weathered politician he confidently continues sure he will just get away with it as he has for so long.

Morning to you too.

(Right time for the gym... )

I see the new Talk Radio are scrolling on DAB 'The home of Paul Ross at Breakfast'. As has been said previously no match for 'Nick Ferrari at Breakfast' unless he has completely changed his style from LBC and BBC London.

Not as far as I am concerned. I like Paul Ross but he is way too excitable, such is his knowledge of certain subjects he will not pause to let anyone in, he's not rude just over-enthusiastic. That said the comedian he had doing the paper review this morning was even worse and talked twice as quickly as Paul .. They could have eased that show in a tad more quietly methinks?

I like Paul Ross as well but they need to sort out the dial up audio quality, so much more noticeable on decent headphones.

The day has finally come, at 10:04 I no longer have the binary choice of JOB (rattling on and on, repeat repeat, on and on, first caller 10:20, rudeness personified) and Woman's Hour on Radio 4 (mum's net). I usually choose Woman's Hour (although I am male), but today will be with JHB on TalkRadio.

No matter which station you opt for, the topic is IDS. You can have either J O'B in hushed, hand-wringing mode or J H-B bouncing around and getting shouty. I've opted for the latter because she isn't taking any nonsense from the Labour spokesman. And I was sorry when LBC dropped her. It'll be interesting to see if they have any callers and where from.

You and me both. JHB rather than JOB.

Well the jury is still out as far as I am concerned for the new Talk Radio. Today my DAB radio is not working properly - having reset it, it no longer finds TR ! Tried listening online, and I keep getting 'squeeky' noises.

BTW If they think I would ring an 0844 number to speak to them .... !

I can only get it on my PC, and it's fine.

What is up with the presenters this morning? NF said 'interpretate' and JOB just said 'waffer' for 'wafer'. Are they nervous about their new rivals?

JOB just talked about his 'heckles' rising and his sighing today is horrendous - must be something in the water.

Why some think Steve Allen is worthy of serious debate, escapes me totally. He does what he does, (a bitchfest) why let him get underneath your skin? Okay, he does go on overload over certain celebs which creates the impression he's vindictive but if you put tongue-in-cheek firmly he shouldn't get to you that much? Or should he?
Serious debate? Where? This is a 'General chit-chat' forum.

Jon Holmes shoe-horns in a reference to LBC within seconds of starting his new show!

"I'm not sure of the politics of this, but I don't have to be as this isn't bloody LBC"

EDIT - and follows this up with having a dig at R1 and R2, too!

I've tried retuning my DAB. No TalkRadio here (London).

I'm stuck with BBC Radio 4 when there are LBC presenters that bore me. A pity as I used to like Iain Lee when he was on LBC.

i am in a part of london and i have it.. and the other new ones...
but that is the problem with dab... it requires frequent retuning (which may mean all your presets then need to be redone) and unless the signal is super strong (which it never is) you only get some of the stations and often none of the station data (eg name!) worse, my bedroom hifi is also my alarm clock, and if the signal is poor, the clock flips around displaying random times every few minutes and it ceases to be able to wake me up

I did a third retune, and it appeared. Not sure why I bothered. Jon Holmes faffing about in a very amateur and immature way. At least I gave it a try. I've set a pre-set, so I can try again when someone else is presenting.

Yes, Jon Holmes doing a very odd set indeed. And the sound quality is terribly poor, too.

(Completely OT)

I must ask: did he remove the 'h' because of the other one ? If so I don't blame him.

Jon Holmes is a former LBC presenter, so it's not OT

I didn't know there was another one! What does he do?

Shelagh has cut several callers off very quickly, on both sides of the debate about the sex offenders register. The last one was pushing the boundaries, but I don't think it was fair to cut the two before him off so quickly and then tell us which side of the fence they were on.

Apparently Iain Lee has been slagging off LBC on his podcasts. It's been almost a decade since he left. Time to move on.

I heard a couple of hours of J H-B this morning. Perfect reception on my PC. It's all rather noisy - should be called SHOUTradio.

Iain Lee claiming on Twitter that his former BBC local radio colleagues have been banned from interacting with him on social media.

I heard a bit of Paul Ross and Jon Holmes, and so far, it does indeed sound all very shouty and quickfire. JH was very disappointing overall, sounding like he was down the pub with his mates, who all think their banter is terribly funny, but actually isn't.

DAB sound quality still very poor - it all sounds a bit 'fuzzy' and distorted.
