Is LBC a national station or simply a local station that the rest of the country is a allowed to listen to?
That was annoying. I was very much liking what I was hearing. I was certainly not thinking.....hmmm....how could this be adapted to suit a national audience. My strategy would have been: Tweak the name. Tweak nothing else. And I think that is more or less where we are. |

We've had several discussions here about electoral purdah and whether or not candidates should be interviewed. This makes it (fairly) clear, if you've got time to wade through it!
The latest date that purdah can start is 30 March 2016. Local government sometimes views this period as a time when communications has to shut down completely. This is not the case, and the ordinary functions of councils should continue, but some restrictions do apply, by law, to all councillors and officers. Full document and specifications here: http://www.local.gov.uk/documents/10...1-49bd47afeb2d However, without having to wade through all that I can safely say without a shadow of a doubt that LBC have made the mother of all cock ups, by not inviting George Galloway on to their Mayoral debate, he is third favourite for god sake! Not inviting George Galloway to a Mayoral debate is akin to not inviting the Prime Minister to Prime Ministers Questions. #lbccockup |

Unfounded? Hardly!
khan has always been against extremists, extremism and terrorism. the attacks against him are largely emanating from pro-israel lobby who are keen to have zac goldsmith rather than a muslim. lbc represents the pro israel point of view if you hadnt noticed. Quote:
And? .... What's that got to do with the way he was treated?
Martin, you're right.I completely forgot about Tony Blackburn. If I was in that industry I don't think I'd touch the BBC with a barge pole. Then again James Max and James Whale weren't impressed with Global either. |

JOB is annoying me this morning. There is no doubt he is deeply affected by this morning's atrocity but he is sounding like some sort of war poet choosing perfect imagery and words. Rather self-indulgent and poor journalism in the circumstances.

The only context in which this would be pertinent to the discussion would be if somebody was attempting to excuse or justify the Brussels bombings.
its far easier to suggest that one is an apologist rather than to acknowledge the political grievances of those who commit these atrocities. even more convenient to blame islam even though isis are in essence baathists . |

LBC got me so mad today. Mr Ferrari should have postponed his very boring London Mare (yes, I have spelled it correctly) programmer which made me so angry they were all sat round a table talking about the London Mare, and yet tens of people had just been blasted to death, more injured, in Brussels. It was like a twin universe, we us caring people in one universe and Mr Ferrari and his Mares in another talking about council bin men. The farce continued at 10am, when O'Brien had a Mare phone-in. Very bad taste. No one outside London is bothered which Mare is elected. LBC is a national station and it's about time it started behaving like one. Mr Farrari and Mr Dale are obsessed with Mares.

JOB's at home now, sweat dripping from his furrowed brow, as he dashes out dozens of charcoal representations on paper of the horror and savagery of the morning's atrocities. The guy is a total poser.

LBC is a London-focused national station. This may be good news, if it means we don't get the same level of coverage of mayoral elections in other areas that have or are going to have mayors. On a related note, a poll about the mayoral election in Greater London was commissioned for LBC and the results of it were a main item in the news. If the mayor was chosen as the leader of the party who had the most members of the Greater London Assembly, and the electoral system was 1 AM per borough, with the AM who received the most votes winning, like the House of Commons, there would be more of a chance of the poll being inaccurate. LBC and other media benefit ffrom direct elections to offices like the office of mayor. Luckily we still don't elect the prime minister. |

Mares aside, they should have stopped the show to bring us the terrible news.

LBC does have a news channel. It would bbe great if it was available nationally. Then we could get more in depth news coverage on LBC News and debates wouldn't have to be interrupted for an update or interview connected with a news story.
Could the mayoral debate not have been pre-recorded while LBC simulcast LBC News for an hour? It is harder to adapt the schedule when a live event at which radio thestation is at the centre has been scheduled. |

The highlight on LBC today should have been all about the London Mayoral debate hosted by Ferrari - instead circumstances in Brussels obviously changed the news agenda and I felt the whole debate was handled quite badly by Ferrari (who is normally quite good at these sort of things). He was constantly pushing candidates and callers for answers and it all felt a bit rushed and disjointed. Perhaps the next one should be done by Iain Dale?
I understand the need to engage as many Parties as possible but seriously, why the need for that UKIP fellow - Peter Whittle? Spewing the same old immigration rhetoric and not much else. Going forward, they should restrict the debate to both Goldsmith and Khan and maybe perhaps one other candidate, maybe Pidgeon or Berry. Inviting anyone else is simply a waste of time for LBC and a disservice to its listeners. |

. Perhaps presenters don't like to be caught out without a script?

I think Clive Bull is right. That caller was reading a speech. If he wasn't, he's been reading the same perspective over and over every day so much that he can memorise all the main claims. All of that information he presented is probably on a far-right website.

Sadly she isn't alone in blaming the victims of ISIS for terrorism. If there was any doubt about her intelligence or nastiness, it's gone.
