Shelagh has just had someone talking sense about sugar and artificial sweeteners just now. I hope people take on board what he said about aspartame. Dreadful stuff.
What was said?

Really.......perhaps some ears are attuned to only hearing what they want to.

I didn't listen to the whole show, but heard plenty of it, even when he was doing the "Marriage/Living together" debate..........I don't think he can stop himself.
He was quite flippant and off hand with callers.

Gobber only ever seems to discuss the following;
Trump
'Farridge'
Brexit
Marriage
Drugs

I seem to remember him jumping on the paedo train a while ago and being a big supporter of Labours Tom Watson and giving a lot of airtime to the alleged establishment paedo rings. That particular theme got a lot of coverage, rightly so........until the wheels came off when it was realised that the accuser 'Nick' was not a credible source but a 'certifiable loony tune' as one commentator described him.
Interesting though that Gobber gave a minuscule fraction of airtime to the Pakistani grooming gangs in Rochdale, Bradford & Birmingham involving thousands of abused white girls by hundreds of men..............can't think why?
Brian was a huge advocate of Exarro News and said what good work they were doing until he found out that in fact they weren't. They haven't been mentioned since.

Brian said the the rape gangs in Rochdale were the fault of the BNP (do they still exist?) for crying wolf too many times.

I know, great journalism.

Shelagh Fog just said that alcohol didn't used to be available on every street corner.

Where does she do her research?

'Pavlova Dogs'?.............seems like you've just invented a Chinese meringue based dessert 🙀
Very good I missed that and read pavlova as Pavlov. Not paying attention you see.

Maybe he meant that the number didn't lower his wages. He is, after all, a man who moved to an 85% white enclave as his previous Kilburn abode was too near a council estate. I wonder what it is that threatens him about living in a diverse and multicultural area? Interesting Shelagh and Stig both live in nearby Richmond Park. Sounds like a real haven for today's champagne socialist, metropolitan liberal elite about town. Avoid at all costs.

How did Farage get on last night? I'm rather Faraged out at the moment so will be listening to Iain Lee over on TalkRadio from 10pm this week.
An awful lot of actors & people in the media live in the Richmond Park area !

I heard a bit of Farage, he was defending the UKIP point of view quite vigorously

If the wind's in the right direction, he can get a fair bit of mileage out of:

Religion
Public Schools
Royalty

You need to watch that predictive text. Earlier it corrected me twice wanting me to say ponder your tour instead of Pont de la Tour the restaurant. Still have trouble getting that wants to say long instead of Pont.

I have tried to go into settings on this tablet to see if I can get rid of it but can't.

Sickening! O'Brien practically starts to salivate, and goes into full mumsnet mode. All very creepy.

Predictive text is a real pain, it's a shame that it can't get rid of those awful Americanisms that have infiltrated the beautiful English language with such nonsense as;

“Can I get” hearing a 'millennial' ordering a Starbucks coffee is especially annoying
“My Bad” when making a mistake and offering a dismissive apology
“Least worst option” tell them that their most best option is learning grammar
To put a list into alphabetical order is to "alphabetize it"
"You do the Math” Math? It's MATHS
“Post truth” thanks for offering this one today Bangles, are we talking about my postmans truthfulness or how my garden fence is supported?

Post Truth = Views that 'Progressives' like Shelagh and Brian don't agree with.
Fake News = News that 'Progressives' like Shelagh and Brian don't agree with.

Hilarious piece by the Hopkins. The humour deficient shouldn't bother. You won't get it.

Basically sugar in small quantities is better for you than the chemical sweeteners. He mentioned aspartame which has been researched as being bad all round to put it simply and it is in many products not just diet drinks.
There is some research (he did not say this but I have read it) that with people with MS for instance can make symptoms worse.
He also spoke about corn syrup used quite a lot in the US. This has been thought to be contributory to obesity. Fructose is also not a good idea although in it's natural state it is a fruit sugar.

Hmm .. I put sweetner pills in my tea instead of sugar or if I am in a cafe their own sweeteners ! Like salt I never add to however it is presented.

A 1996 report suggested a link between aspartame and an increase in the number of diagnosed brain tumours. However, the study had very little scientific basis and later studies showed that aspartame was in fact safe to consume.

Iain Dale is an excellent broadcaster. He is balanced, informed and sympathetic to callers when need be and strident where necessary. I'm a big fan. He has impeccable contacts and has actually met many of the politicians he talks to and about. A lot better than another presenter who makes a virtue of not actually meeting politicians but pulling out all the stops for the fat tongued Mockney buffoon that is Jamie Oliver. Long may Mr Dale continue.

I'm afraid I will be switching to Mr Whale on TalkRADIO at 7. I'm a fan of Clive but he seems straight jacketed by LBCs strict agenda.

Sadly, yes. Some of us think it's highly entertaining. He spent most of the hour I heard describing what sounds like his unhealthy food choices and condemning celebs who give advice on exercise and diet. He's got Tom Daley coming in today to record an In Conversation plugging his new book on healthy eating!
Fawning over Tom Daley I bet, oh dear! Old fanny eats whatever and relies on trays of tablets...the NHS is struggling as it is

At least Phil Vickery is left alone for a bit.

I know you didn't mean anything by it. I only quoted you as I remember laughing at the time because it was my post you replied to. I wasn't aware it has a dismissive connotation.

They change their minds about this and that all the time. But aspartame has been suspect for a long time and I would not deliberately use it .Trouble is it is in so many things and we can't read the labels every time. I don't take sugar in tea in fact if I drank a mouthful of sugar tea by mistake ugh .
