I wonder how he would cope with an hour of that show? Not too well I am thinking.

The temptation to post a link is strong but I will resist!
TBH I wonder how long Farage will stay as a regular. There are very rich pickings to be had on the US alt right media platform which is booming and with Breitbart now running the White House there should be many open doors for dear Nigel. We shall see how it unfolds.

And...... as said in his introduction, why don't the expats in Spain learn Spanish 😉

Speaking for myself, I have ....... and at my own expense. There are no freebies here. Those who don't bother, have to rely on very expensive interpreters, paid for by themselves !!
Also ..James, in the Costa del sol, hospital & doctor's receptionists will not speak English. Either learn the language or pay for an interpreter.

It really is a non-story

Happy Thursday to you All x

Ps. One snipe apiece at KH & NF ......" wash your mouth out." and reference to the train language scenario

Out of interest CC which was the easiest way for you to learn?
Classes or youtube or conversation or TV and radio? Or a bit of everything?

My friends used to use Spanish language DVD's in the car.

Likewise CC, I lived and worked in Paris for a year and we also have a home in France.
It is just good manners to your hosts to try to learn their language and integrate into their way of life........otherwise why bother going there to live in the first place?

We struggled with legal jargon, as we would here, and always needed to pay for a translation service, the French expect you to fund such things, and rightly so..........not like in the UK where we waste £millions of taxpayers funds on translation for those who can't be arsed to learn the lingo. If you support that laziness where is the incentive for them to learn?

I'm sure I heard, this morning, that his hour will take place no matter which part of the world he is in.

Hi, Bangla,

A lot of hard work on my own.....learning verbs etc. I do duolingo, daily, and still have a conversational class, every week, to tune in to the sounds.

I write down everything in Spanish when I go to my doctor, in case my 'spoken' lets me down. He can only speak a few words of English. I practise in the shops and pick up vocabulary by reading all the information signs.

It is still a work in progress - but I am making the effort. It's common courtesy 🌞

The schedule pages on the website have now been updated. It is Nige between 7pm-8pm and Clive for two hours (including his themed hour).

But they still have the Morning News there at 6.30am !

Yes, of course. I'd forgotten the marvels of electronic communication. I think Mike Dicken and John Peel used to phone in their shows.

Good for you CC and probably the best thing is that you feel more involved and able to contribute more.
Am interested In language and how different people cope and deal with the challenge.

James O'Brien has (whilst he has been on air) retweeted a tweet to him which describes Nigel Farage as "a Nazi Alan Partridge". When they go low, James goes lower!

Is Nigel Farage permanently replacing Ian Collins? Its on twitter that Farage has got his own nightly show. I won't be sorry to see Collins go if he has but Farage?

Jolly good fun innit?”

It is fun.
makeba72 and Phil Ander nailed it yesterday.

Half of the thread can clearly hear that several presenters are often rude to callers (without going into justification or otherwise).
The other half of the thread are somehow filtering out this rudeness when the presenter is not JOB.

We do not know why this is the case. But it is fascinating.....for some of us.

If you had posted this 1 year ago.....it might have been accurate on both points.

But today......

Audience:
Correct. Orville the Duck would attract the largest audience at Breakfast as listeners seek the Traffic and Travel updates.

Media impact:
"It means clips of O’Brien have been watched tens of millions of times this year, putting him way ahead of competition from his own radio station or even any other in Britain.
The latest official radio figures show him attracting 810,000 listeners a week, but this is dwarfed by his online reach."

This is quite clearly incorrect. No one is more Partridge than Brian who was once even a broadcaster in Norwich!

Less Clive Bull is not bad, I find him to wind callers up too much when he constantly mocks callers and by mocking them while interrupting them too.

Brian works for a company that employs two presenters who he considers to be "Nazis"? Wouldn't it make sense for him to broadcast elsewhere rather than being a colleague of said Nazis? He also once worked for the Daily Mail. Does anyone have a list of other people or organisations that he considers to be "Nazis"? It's quite extraordinary. A bit like a spoilt public schoolboy pretending to be Che Guevara. While living in Chiswick.

Are you winding up posters/readers here?

If you hadn't mentioned his name, your remarks could apply to a few LBC presenters, but I'm very surprised Clive Bull is one of them.

TBF I haven't listened to Clive in years so am disappointed if what you say is true. I remember him having a dry sense of humour, but never being blatantly rude to callers.

Mother Superior Sister Socialist Shelagh from the Parish of Widdecombe has or is going to be talking about the NHS and hospitals. I haven't listened but she does every day so why change now. If she starts nodding off again while on air, can her producer give her a nudge this time?

She has managed to have a less than subtle dig at Farage already........"He said that you can come on and say what you like, actually you can't, there are broadcasting codes and rules and organisations such as OFCOM......blah, blah, blah"

It was said in such a superior, 'Head Girl' type way........a way that can only be delivered if you've spent the last 20 years at the Biased Broadcasting Corporation 😩
