i don't listen to him either... unless there is some reason i want the weather/news on when the other stations are on "auto-dj" - i can't listen to him because his false facts are annoying when you know better and you don't like the idea lots of people will quote him and also know no better.

but it is also worth remembering the daily star out sells by far the ft... it doesnt say much for the bigger audience

He has honed to such perfection what I am continually assured is an act that I'm not surprised that a lot of people besides me find him uniquely entertaining. There aren't too many other presenters / entertainers capable of being their own straight man. Setting himself up and then giving himself the proverbial "pie in the face" and often in the same sentence.

I've come to think of him as the Stewart Lee of talk radio. One is never quite sure where the real Steve Allen stops and the masterfully created "Fanny Allen" character takes over. Never being quite sure whether he really means what he says, whether you're supposed to laugh, that uncomfortable queasy feeling when you're not sure how to react. It is truly brilliant. He even carries it into his "in conversation" persona; a sort of Mrs Merton for the radio. This morning's trailer of the forthcoming "conversation" with Mark Curry was wonderful. There was Mark praising Yvette Fielding's skills as a wonderful presenter and if you listened carefully you could hear Steve in his "Fanny" character grinding his teeth in exasperation. Of course there's a chance it was set up but as ever it felt perfectly real.

Lisa Aziz also gets a lot of stick on this thread but she also has the highest listening figures in London at that time.

Wonder how much its its costing the government to advertise the marriage allowance tax break on LBC.

Exactly would not mind if it was for a big sum but do they really need to advertise a two hundred odd pound tax break.

Handy bit of subtle advertising for the govt (disguised as a public information ad) during a period of purdah, though, isn't it?

And yet, you continue to listen? I could understand if you liked some presenters but not others. But you don't, you criticize each and every presenter. If the station is right-wing, it is because the listeners are happy for it to be so. Why can you not grasp this?

I would not put it quite like that Suzanne Evans was on Iain's show last week explaining why she felt she was thrown out of UKIP for 6 months,hardly a great advert if Iain had a love affair with the party is it.?

A hideous proposition from 'high-flyer' Boris. His electric car project which was another fanciful whim (imo) when he was appointed Mayor, has yet to catch on. The cost for the average driver/wage earner is prohibitive.

Cheaper fuel means that it reduces the cost of living for those that use their cars. It also reduces transportation costs which if it doesn't mean prices will reduce, it will hopefully prevent them increasing.

I am going to try and get on if i am available that morning and not called on for other duties such as work or representing a member in my role as a union steward.

Luckily i have no car so that expense i am spared from running one that is.

If the congestion charge increases in London that Boris seems to want do take place it will not reduce costs at all rather it will put them up!.

A better anology would be The Sun newspaper. It's by far Britain's best selling newspaper but personally, it is not fit to wipe my a*#e.

But it could be balanced out with cheaper fuel.

That depends the congestion charge will have to rise at a rate it puts people off paying it,if the rise is less then the cost of cheaper fuel people will still continue to drive in as they will still be in pocket.

Any rise will have to outstrip the cheaper fuel price to have any impact in London.

Otherwise it would not make any sense.

Boris has only a few weeks left in office, so I doubt if he'll have time to implement any changes. The polls are currently giving Mr Khan a slight lead, so it'll be up to him to decide.

No he is leaving his successor a poisoned chalice however will try to get to ask him when he is next in.
